League Cup 21/22 Group A

Recommended Posts

Pretty comfortable win last night, but as with last season I worry we're a bit slow to move the ball about and we do miss a lot of the chances we create. Shame Cove are a fair bit behind Hearts in terms of pre-season prep, as it showed from the off, but fair play to them for always trying to play football. As soon as Halliday scored his long banger, it was a done deal.

And from a Hearts POV, great to see Pollock start (he had a good game, and was unlucky not to score, even if he really should have passed to GMS), and a couple of the other young boys getting game time - I suspect, though, that these games will be the only time we see them in maroon this year. Hope to be proved wrong.

And is there any point to Damour being on the bench?

Watching the game on much improved ICT streaming service, we played really well. Created loads of chances in the first half, Welsh missed an open goal and Duku probably should have done better with a couple. He produced a superb finish for the opener though and Doran scored a scorcher a couple of minutes later, if he stays fit then he could be a massive factor in the league. Probably unlikely though.

Of the new signings, Broadfoot looked comfortable in central defence and came forward we’ll but wasn’t really tested. McAlear looked busy and athletic, good competition for central midfield and Duku was lively.

The rhythm of the game was disrupted with a lot of the subs we made but we remained on top. Good to see Ryan Fyffe have a solid showing at centre half - we ended the game with four youth products on the pitch which is good to see.

My first The Caley game tomorrow since March 2020 when we beat QOTS 3-1 ten or so days before lockdown.  If we beat Scumling Lolbion then it'll put us in a good position for a tricky away game at Cove next week before our annual televised trip to Tynecastle in the League Cup group stages, for our annual televised pumping by Hearts in the League Cup group stages.

Last week we played a team with Draper and Vigurs in it.

Today, we play a side for the first time since 2017 - Who had Draper and Vigurs playing that day.

No idea how today's game will go, although we'll likely get beat, but one thing's for certain. If it goes to penalties, it can't possibly be a worse shoot out than the one at Forthbank in 2017 where ICT won 2-0 on PKs.

I see that signing Kirk Broadfoot is doing wonders for Inverness

He’s had zero to do with either goal conceded but apart front that, good post.
