Saturday 5th February 2022
Arthurlie P-P Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
Beith C-C Bo'ness United
Caledonian Braves 2-1 Drumchapel United
Civil Service Strollers P-P Jeanfield Swifts
Clydebank 1-2 Pollok
Cumbernauld Colts 0-5 East Kilbride
Cumbernauld United P-P Petershill
Dundonald Bluebell P-P Tranent
Irvine Meadow P-P Auchinleck Talbot
Linlithgow Rose 2-1 Blantyre Victoria
Maybole P-P Darvel
Renfrew 3-4 Bo'ness Athletic
Sauchie P-P Troon
Spartans 4-3 Syngenta (aet, FT 3-3)
Vale of Leven P-P Thorniewood United

Wild weather skittled most grass-based games across Strathclyde, and ultimately struck Cardenden plus Muirhouse too.

Impressive win in Renfrew for Bo'ness Athletic - their "still in all the cups" bangwagon rolls on. Syngenta put up a terrific fight away to Spartans - who sit 2nd top of LL - only to lose aet.

Linlithgow also safely negotiated a tricky tie.

The Rose fixture seems a bit odd.

If Troon do beat Sauchie then having to travel midweek Linlithgow isn't great.    Traffic won't be brilliant and players may have to finish work early.

Seems strange to put it midweek.

Crowded fixture list, Saturdays are at a premium. Especially in the West where there aren't a lot of floodlights in the West Premier.

Keeps the cup competition on track since originally R5 ties would be played March 5th. Quarter finals are due to be played April 2nd.

Fair enough, just seems a shame. I wonder if tier 6 will make floodlights a necessary addition at some point

I don't think that's neccessary. Much like the EoS Premier, a lot of the teams in the West are going to end up getting their SFA Licence. It will sort itself out. This it's as much to do with lack of floodlights and the excess league games with temporarily enlarged leagues.

Hardly worth bothering.

If you take currrent top 24 in EOS.... Premier and top 3 in Conferences A & B... everybody's already lit except Crossgates (who have plans), Glenrothes and Oakley (who have plans).

Then bottom 35 = 13 lit/5 plans/17 unlit.

Basically it's...

Fine afternoon's work for the EOS League... as Sauchie battered West Premier visitors Troon, plus Jeanfield blew away Lowland hosts Civil Service Strollers. There was a good start for Bo'ness Athletic who lead East Kilbride within 60secs - but this only provoked them into an ultimately comfortable victory.

Bo'ness United winning at Beith was a bad result for the West, while Petershill of First Division won at Cumbernauld Utd of Premier.
