Getting into the debate about it being Scotland's premier non league cup. I would say it is given the number of entrants to it.

Someday we will maybe get an all in fully national non league cup but home many of the HL and North Juniors would be up for it? A lot of the juniors used to drop out of the SJC if they had a long trip south which would lose money.

Exactly it would be to please people like Long time lurker who it actually doesn't benefit in anyway. WOuld it benefit RAF Lossiemouth to take a long trip to Tweedmouth just to fulfil some peoples fantasies.

Some people might be happy with that since RAF Lossiemouth don't exist anymore.

I think from what we've seen based on this season, is some form of regionalisation to whittle down the numbers and keep the travel costs down. I'm still not convinced the SCC or SJC proposals will be enough to entice the current HL teams into the mix since they've got the 34 league games.

Meanwhile, a WoS officeholder has told us on here that moves are afoot in pyramid league meetings to have a national pyramid cup competion as opposed to a south pyramid one and that the LL, EoS and SoS are all supportive of the concept.

Hopefully the plans for a national non-league cup competition from tier 5 downwards will come to fruition, and the WoSFL have been at the forefront of those discussions by submitting a proposal to the 4 Leagues Meeting (Lowland/WoSFL/EoSFL/SoSFL) which has gained their approval and has now been submitted to the Scottish FA and is on the agenda for discussion at the next Pyramid Working Group meeting.

It has also been noted that the SJFA went public a week or two ago stating their intention to form a similar competition.  Hopefully all parties will work together to make this happen.

It's an intriguing weekend, particularly after excellent EOS showings in R1 - where Dundonald pasted Bellshill, Camelon beat Kirkintilloch, Linlithgow won at 'Shire and Pumpherston battered Vale of Leithen - plus Scottish Cup (admittedly v struggling Highland mostly).

Tougher mix here.

East Premier v Lowland
Jeanfield hold home advantage over Broomhill who've suffered a pretty indifferent season to date. Hosts have also thumped Vale of Leithen and Inverurie. Home win here wouldn't be a shock. LTHV v Civil Service should be a comfortable away win on paper albeit the homesters form has improved recently and they spanked Edinburgh Uni in the cup. Berwick v Broxburn gives me the fear but I'll forecast a home victory against inconsistent visitors from remote deepest darkest West Lothian...

East Premier v West Premier
Cumbernauld Utd v Inverkeithing pits 15th in WOS against 11th in EOS. Were it at Dalgety Bay you'd perhaps favour the Fifers but at Guy's Meadow it narrows further. Might go all the way.

East First Division A+B v Lowland
Cumbernauld Colts v Rosyth... Bo'ness Utd v Kirkcaldy... Burntisland v Uni of Stirling... Caledonian v Kennoway... Bonnyrigg v Arniston... Easthouses v Spartans... Edinburgh Uni v Dalkeith... can't realistically anticipate any EOS wins here unless Kennoway ambush Braves.

East First Division A+B v West First Division
Luncarty should have enough though I was interested to see that Glasgow Uni are currently 10th in their conference and only 5pts from top half, so clearly not out of their depth at current tier 7.

East First Division A+B v West Fourth Division
Kinnoull should overcome toiling Harthill.

East First Division X v Lowland
Unthinkable surely for Gala to lose at Whitburn...?

East First Division X v West First Division
Gartcairn are only 3pts from top in their conference but Bo'ness Athletic are clearly a very capable and definitely high-scoring team. This could have all the hallmarks of a classic Friday nighter.

Bo'ness Athletic 3-1 Gartcairn
Cumbernault Colts 2-0 Rosyth

Fantastic win for Bo'ness Athletic tonight against a top West First Division opponent: moreso as home talisman Daramola got crocked only minutes in.

Rosyth go down conceding either side of HT.

Scott Sinclair scored his 30th goal for Bo'ness Athletic this season. At any level that's a great achievement. I was impressed with his touch, speed, balance and shooting ability.

First time I have seen "Woody" Woodburn. A generously chunky centre half for the BA who looks like he should be playing as a rugby prop. What he lacks in pace and height he more than makes up for with his footballing brain. His positioning, strength and distribution of the ball made a solid foundation for Athletic to play from.

Was looking forward to seeing ex BU Tiwi Daramola but alas he limped off after 8 minutes having hardly touched the ball.

Whitburn 1 GFR 3

Good cup tie played at an unbelievable rate !!!

Whitburn deservedly went in 1 up at half time, they were really up for it from the start, while Gala looked like they didnt want to be there.

But once we conceded a penalty near the hour mark,it changed the game, only one winner after that.

Best of luck to Gala in the next round.

North-East Zone
Bo'ness United V-V Kirkcaldy & Dysart
Burntisland Shipyard 1-3 University of Stirling (aet, FT 1-1)
Caledonian Braves 4-0 Kennoway Star Hearts
Cumbernauld United 1-0 Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts
Dundonald Bluebell 1-0 Crossgates Primrose
Dunipace 1-3 Sauchie
Glasgow University 0-2 Luncarty
Glenrothes 3-1 St Andrews United
Jeanfield Swifts 2-0 Broomhill
Kinnoull 1-3 Harthill Royal
Linlithgow Rose 2-1 Camelon
Syngenta 2-0 Oakley United
Thornton Hibs 1-4 Lochore Welfare

South-East Zone
Berwick Rangers 1-1 Broxburn Athletic (aet, FT 1-1, 3-4p)
Blackburn United 4-3 Stoneyburn (aet, FT 3-3)
Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic (nine) 9-1 Arniston Rangers
Coldstream 3-0 Tweedmouth Rangers
Easthouses Lily 1-4 Spartans
Edinburgh College 0-7 (seven) Penicuik Athletic
Edinburgh University 2-0 Dalkeith Thistle
Haddington Athletic 4-1 Leith Athletic
Lothian Thistle HV 1-3 Civil Service Strollers
Newtongrange Star 1-2 Tranent
Ormiston 2-0 Hawick RAU
Preston Athletic 2-1 Peebles Rovers
Pumpherston 2-7 (seven) Edinburgh United
Tynecastle 1-0 Armadale Thistle
West Calder United 2-1 Bathgate Thistle
Whitburn 1-3 Gala Fairydean Rovers

Few surprise results today... Biggest shock possibly at Shielfield when Broxburn won a penalty shootout after a drab encounter. Many will be startled at the margin of Haddington's win over Leith. Kinnoull will be very disappointed to have lost at home to Harthill. Burntisland and Whitburn were unable to hold onto half-time leads over Stirling Uni and Gala - indeed Shippy took it to extra-time. Newtongrange look to have tested Tranent again but came up short.

Jeanfield beat Broomhill, but they aren't the force they used to be: many might have expected a home win. Luncarty got a good win at Glasgow Uni. Pumpherston got pumped. Cumbernauld United 1-0 Inverkeithing proved very close as expected.

Another good home crowd today at Haddington. Fact that over 300 in attendance probably due to top 2 sides in Conference A meeting for 1st time this season and expecting a close match. In truth, the 4-1 win should have been more.

Haddington totally dominated 1st half, scoring 3 goals. In 2nd half, Leith staged a mini revival getting back to 3-1 and had a couple of to get a second. But Haddington re-asserted control of the match and could have easily scored another 3; albeit only a solitary goal coming near to the end of the match.

Hopefully Haddington can make it a cup double next week, when they travel to face Brechin in the Scottish Cup 2nd round.

Anything but drab at Berwick today. 2 goals, woodwork hit 4 times, good saves, 14 penalties.  Not bad entertainment for £7.

He also said Broxburn where from remote deepest darkest West Lothian. I think he may have some Broxburn issues 😂😂😂
