League Cup - Group C

Recommended Posts

Ross County   -   Dundee   -   Forfar Athletic   -   Montrose   -   Brora Rangers

Feel like this is a decent group for us considering we're a 2nd seeded team in this stupid format. With one less spot for best runners-up, the onus is on teams even more. Reckon we can beat Roy and the Racist, and the team to watch out for will definitely be Montrose. Looking forward to it, here's hoping we get some bloody fans in, eh?

County should be made to forfeit tbh imo, not safe for Forfar to play them in the next week.

Well given Forfar had to forfeit last year when 1 player was isolating (3-0 to Dundee) anything other than that if County can't play would be completely unfair.

Eagerly awaiting the return of Hispanic Brora superfan B' Jesus to this forum. Much water has flowed under the bridge since that epic battle which saw Montrose FC retain their SPFL 2 status. Some of the squad played back then and they will be especially keen to show how greatly things have improved since then. Hopefully it should be a good match.

Due to Ross County staff and players having tested positive for COVID 19 Forfar have been awarded a 3-0 win as Saturday's match can't go ahead.

As mentioned above this is standard and happened to us last season at Hamilton Accies when 1 of our players also had the virus.

Forfar getting a bit of karmic redemption for last season. We once again get a helping hand out of the gate. All the best for the County players in recovery, I wonder how much time they'll get to train post-quarantine in preparation for our game on TV.

Reckon there will be tickets on sale for the Montrose vs Dundee game - for non ST holders, I mean?
Almost certainly will be. The email I got regarding the slight easing of restrictions for today's game said that they hoped even more would be lifted before the Dundee game so I'd imagine the plan is to have a lot more general sale tickets.

Yep, easy win for the Mo today against a much weaker Brora side than the one that caused some headaches six years ago. Could have had a couple more but for a few misplaced passes in front of goal when taking a shot would have been easier. Hope Lyons takes the confidence from his goal and kicks back on from when he left LP last time. We look solid, but proper tests will come when we get to Dundee/KKKounty and see where any gaps are. We will need another forward, almost certainly.

Above all, it was just great to be back in the ground and taking it in with a crowd on a sunny day. I have missed it, and hope by season proper things are nearer to normal.

Good to get back to watching competitive football. Agree that Brora weren’t up to much so not sure what we can really learn from the game. All Montrose players played well. Particularly impressed with Callaghan’s first half performance, not sure what position he was actually playing, he covered the entire pitch. Some good passing moves from defence through the midfield and up to Rennie. Lyons looks like he’s never been away, Canto and Brown looked impressive when they came on too. Bigger tests to follow with Covid County and Dundee ahead

From what I saw in the season that's just finished, there was little separating Montrose and Forfar when they played each other, so expecting similar on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning here. Haven't paid attention to who has come in or left Forfar but we are much the same as last season, minus loan players. Reckon it will be a test, but not as "proper" or "big" a test as the games against Dundee and Ross County. It will likely be a "common" or "medium-sized" test.
