Rutherglen Glencairn 2021-22

Recommended Posts

He's a player from what highlights I've seen of him, didn't realise his GPG was that tho, will surely be sorely missed. You guys got a replacement in mind or call up one of the youths?
Liam hasn't been a regular starter for us in the past couple of seasons. Most of his appearances have been from the bench, but yes his goals per games ratio has always been good.

Disappointing not to hold on for a draw against Auchinleck this afternoon, but it's a game of fine margins in the top league. We went so close to taking the lead in the 82nd minute with Jack McIlveen's hook volley, but a minute later we were a goal behind. Even after that we went close when Harry Mitchell's goal-bound shot was blocked by a Glens player.

But that's football and we move on to Rob Roy on Wednesday night. We've played 8 games so far, and 7 of them have been against teams currently occupying the top 8 places in the league table.

Was able to get to the game on Saturday. It was a turgid affair, mostly due to the fact that Glencairn were well drilled. You gave Talbot one or two frights but ultimately only really had the one real chance although Talbot didn’t have many clear cut opportunities either. In the end it was a relief to see us taking the three points. The ref was bemusing. He missed loads of blatant things and was laughable at times. He was also slow to react to the time wasting/play acting tactics.

A very tidy stadium housing a well organised club. Enjoyed the day. Wishing Rutherglen Glencairn all the best for the season.

I did think about it. I spotted you I think. Did you collect some escaped balls?

Another good win for us tonight, our third win and clean sheet away from home so far. The sort of result we will need if we are to stay in this league next season. I didn't think we played anywhere near as well as we can, but we scored goals at important times (3rd minute, 42nd minute, 72nd minute) and rarely looked like conceding.

A wee break from the league for us now with the visit of Finnart in the Strathclyde Demolition Cup on Saturday.

It took us a while to get the breakthrough, but there was only ever going to be one winner of our Strathclyde Demolition Cup tie v Finnart today.

Another couple of top notch goals by Harry Mitchell who is on great form at the moment. Good to get through to the quarter final as we only had two fit outfield substitutes today.

On to Kilbirnie Ladeside away next Saturday.

Rutherglen Glencairn are pleased to announce the signing of strikers Jack McIlveen and Fraser Malcolm.

Jack is the latest player to step up from the ranks of our successful Under 21s team, and has scored 5 goals already this season for the first team after 5 starts and 3 substitute appearances. Jack, who is 21 years old, already has experience from short spells at St Roch's and Fauldhouse United.

Fraser, who turns 21 in a couple of weeks, has previously played for Rossvale after a scholarship in Portugal with current Primera Liga side Estoril Praia. Fraser scored on his competitive debut for the club as a substitute against Pollok, and has made 2 starts and 3 substitute appearances so far.

A poor performance from us today after a few weeks of good displays. We never really got going but nearly salvaged a point at the end.

Kilbirnie much improved with four new faces on the pitch which obviously gave them a boost, but we started very slowly and never really got up to the level we've been at recently.

A cracking three points for us today as we were down to the bare bones through injuries, suspensions, holidays and Covid. Coming from behind twice after losing an early goal and one just before half time, we showed a lot of character. We rise three places in the table as well. [emoji106]

A really strange performance from us today after recent weeks, but credit to Glenafton, they scored with just about every chance they created while we missed ours. You'll see from Gerry's video that the game was pretty even, but it's all about putting the ball in the net and Glenafton gave us a lesson in that respect today.
