South Challenge Cup 2021-22

If it meant getting the Highland clubs involved and making a proper “non-league” Scottish Cup, I actually wouldn’t mind them regionalising Round 1 and 2 long-term.

They've already split the SCC into groups of 40ish this season, so with 81 teams north of the line it works out quite nicely tbh

Could probably do it as North, Central, SE, and SW.

Would weed out the smaller clubs. Maybe more popular in North & Central sections as they would have more chance of inter-league clashes in those early rounds to keep it fresh.

It's not the South of Scotland Cup, that is run by the South of Scotland Football League. It is the South Region Challenge Cup, involving all teams from tier 5 down in the South Region.

...and the North Region Challenge Cup only lasted two seasons and was abolished in 2009:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SFA_North_and_South_Region_Challenge_Cups

so extending an invite to the remaining junior clubs in the soon to be sanctioned Midlands and Grampian leagues to effectively recreate what the SJC used to be and change the name to Scottish Regional Challenge Cup or whatever is fair game, even if the HL and NCL aren't interested in participating initially.

Is the South Region Cup open to all tiers ? and I'm guessing that clubs don't need to be licensed either ? Maybe open it up to some Amateurs seeing as the Northern lot don't seem interested in a national non league cup, don't know if that would work though.  I'd go for the SFA Senior Trophy as a new name 🏆

Kilsyth Rangers tie possible switched as they a development club must be a mistake

That's for Kilsyth Athletic who are the newbies. Kilsyth Rangers haven't been drawn yet so got a bye to the Second Round.

Just noticed now as seems that is what is happening to all Development Clubs they could switch the tie to away tean

Probably easier for them to keep track of that way or some clubs might still have the time to upgrade?

Certainly Harthill Royal and whoever was sharing with Renfew should be fine.

what even is this pish

south challenge what's it called cup
this zone that zone

anyone even know what the cup looks like.

zero interest from those who took casual interest in non league football but loved the buzz of the junior cup.

development teams two teams now in this town, two now in that town, maybe play here or maybe there.

utter rubbish

give me the junior cup anyday least that peaked the interest of the casual non league football fan, this will only get the interest of the geeks.
