I read earlier that the Aberdeen manager never won it when they last did the double. A recent past winner is Steve Clarke. And Delboy McInnes. SANTAN
The only way to rectify this going forward is if we have a "manger of the biggest accomplishment" award next season.
This Charming Man
Congrats finally to Mr Steven George Gerrard MBE, ONE trophy from the NINE available to you et al, even with your outlandish and freakish financial Scottish footballing budget over the past 3 seasons and counting, lol. James McPake is actually on target to achieve more when you compare % budgets and without the Covid related fan and club incidents thankfully for us adults. Congratulations to Callum Davidson as Scottish Manager of the Season 2020/21. Regards

During the 9iar run only 1 Celtic manager won the award and that was Brendan Rodgers for the invincible season, the one where we actually went invincible. The last league winning winner before Rodgers was Walter Smith So the league winning manager rarely wins this award. Davidson clearly deserved it
PauloPerth
Callum deserves it but the flaw is in the timing of the vote, as has been mentioned plenty of times. It doesn't really matter that much. But If we're looking for context, Saints winning both cups in this day and age is arguably the greatest achievement in the history of Scottish football. More remarkable even than Celtic winning the European cup. I'd say that even if it was Motherwell, Ross County or Dunfermline that did it (win the domestic cups, not the European Cup). If a Scottish team were to win a major European trophy in the modern era with the current gulf in resources then that would surpass it.

Winning any European trophy, irrespective of era is way above winning a domestic cup double.St Johnstone only had to beat one cheek to get the double not continually beat the elite from other countries game after game to win a cup.

Derry Alli
In two minds. When it was awarded, Gerrard had just cantered to the title with Rangers. Davidson had won one cup. After today though? No doubt its Davidson. Especially so when it's remembered some Perth posters were wanting him chased early doors. Phenomenal turnaround.

In terms of profile and significance obviously a European trophy is a far bigger deal. In terms of the over-achievement and scale of the feat taking resources into account, Saints' double far surpasses it. Hibs had been in a European Cup semi a decade earlier, and Dundee 5 years earlier, so it wasn't that unreachable for a Scottish team. Go have a look at the 4 diddies they had to play to get to the final. You can see parallels in our Betfred Cup group of Brechin City, Kelly, Peterhead and Dundee United. Celtic were a team full of internationals playing other teams with similar resources. A great achievement, but not an unimaginable one. They even got to the final again 3 years later.

MacArab
What Callum Davidson has achieved in his first year as a manager will go down in history as one of (if not the) greatest achievements in the history of Scottish football. Fucking End Of...... Anyone who reckons anyone else deserves the MOTY supports Rangers. Stevie G should do the decent thing and fire that award over to MacDermid Park Recorded Delivery, and I hope that every ‘sports writer’ who awarded this pish to SG feels at least a bit embarrassed tonight. Enjoy the next few weeks of minimal sobriety Fermers, fucking well deserved.

ETA - I thought European competitions didn’t have any relevance in these awards? Could be wrong on that though. Also the fact they’ve probs got a bottom 6 budget the achievement is on of the biggest in Scottish history never mind today. To be fair, Gerrard has won 100% of Rangers’ major honours but Davidson only 67% of St Johnstone’s
jamamafegan
I think Gerrard should be stripped of this award immediately. The people in charge of this should be going round his house this morning to take the award back. If Gerrard has any sense or dignity, he’ll give it back quietly.
