Alloa Athletic were the worst team in the league and only won 5 matches. They were utter bobbins and appointing their manager would be a really poor decision from the Board.

Yes, they were part-time but so were Arbroath and they avoided relegation. I guess that wasn’t achieved playing tippy tappy shite so is less of an achievement?

Fans are likely to be back next season, perhaps without limits on numbers and club should be looking to recruit a new management team and players that can get fans excited to buy their STs. Peter Grant would not be an inspiring choice, to put it *very* mildly.

As people have mentioned, he may just be one of a number of candidates but if that’s the sort of contender for the gig then next season is finished before it’s started.

Agree with all of this. Good post.

As I’ve just posted on the other thread, it will simply be a case of him putting his name forward and us setting up a meeting/interview. That doesn’t even mean he’s being considered, but there’s no harm in speaking to the man.

Don’t buy the whole ‘played the right way’ nonsense. The ‘right’ way to play would result in more than 5 wins in 27 games and a lot less than 60 goals conceded in 27 games - yet people above are saying it’s the attacking players that were an issue?

As for the comment about playing other teams off the park, not for me. Passing the ball around the defence/midfield when you’re getting beat isn’t dominating, or having control of a game. It’s just stupidity and sign of a poor manager. A good manager would realise that those tactics weren’t working and change something, to try and get a result. He didn’t do that, despite losing over 50% of games and conceding so many goals.

I’d rather play a less ‘attractive’ brand of football and win, than play ‘pretty’ football and end up fighting relegation. It’s all about results in football and he clearly isn’t the man to get them.

Not to be picky, but isn’t “playing tippy tappy shite” exactly what your new German overlords would like for player development and generating interest? Isn’t it their plan to use Dunfermline as a development stop for players.

Neil McCann is a much better option than Peter Grant. Alloa played decent football for the last 2 seasons but were ultimately still pretty shite. Had it not been for the season ended early last year they might’ve actually gone down a season earlier than they did.

In what possible way does 'player development' equal 'playing tippy tappy shite'? Where has that ever been written or stated?
