Scotland v Czech

Bigger problem is clearly the RCB taking a stroll up the pitch to give the ball away, and no-one even bothers to cover across the massive hole he's left. No-one in the defence, Marshall included, has read the potential danger in the situation.

After that it's a tremendous effort. Even if Marshall is further back it would have been very tricky.

Is the tactic not to have one of our CH's step up when in possession?

The biggest problem is having a keeper at the half way line when we're in a passage of play after the corner that's not even in the Czech Republic's box.

We’ve had far better chances than the Czechs have had. I think that makes it even worse.

That's absolutely no surprise with the midfield we have.

Bottom line is that if you're bad at defending and bad at scoring goals, you're going to struggle.

That's been Scotland's story for about a decade.

This was the game that realistically we needed to win. Clarke had the choice to pick the best team or reward the guys that had got us through qualification. Despite the euphoria of Serbia, the realism is that we qualified through the back door against teams that are of a lower quality than those we are facing. We should have gone with absolute talent and the best available. That Adams didn’t start was criminal.  Arguably Gilmour and Paterson also. We went with known but limited players when we should have gambled with unknown but ability.  That’s probably fucked our chances of anything

That dykes chance was the game changer for us. We aren’t scoring now.

Just give Gilmour, Patterson and Turnbull a run out.

Bang on the money young Tunbridge. Two certainly, but maybe even all three of those that you’ve mentioned should’ve been on from the start.

When will we learn to throw some hungry, talented, ballsy youth in from the start of a match??

In fairness to the right CB, he should be stepping out when they're playing 3v1. I would ask why the other 2 CB's haven't sorted themselves out behind him from that picture. Hanley and Cooper need to shuffle over when Hendry steps forward. Stupid shot from Hendry, but look at the space Hanley gives him in that channel by not just stepping over.

Hendry, Hanley and Marshall at fault for me for the goal.

But Clarke entirely at fault for the overall outcome.

Dykes looks like a busted flush

WTF did you think he was before today?

This is who has always been - an average, hard working, mid level striker. Unfortunately that's all we have.

Who's the best forward currently playing that was created by Scottish youth football? Kevin Nisbet?

It'll be same again against England, we get pumped, we put the young lads in for the last match and run up a great 3-0 win v Croatia failing to qualify as one of the two third place teams who go home.

Even glorious failure is a relic of the past. We're getting nothing. Can you see even a 35-year-old Luka Modric against that midfield?

The only consolation is that at least these fucking chancers don't have to get on a plane on the way back.

This is bullshit analysis, tbh.

We don't have good defenders and we don't have good attackers, and it's both easy and wrong to say the manager got something wrong.

The midfield is an absolute gang.  Absolute shitehawks.  Grossly overrated.
