That isn't Alessio's fault. Bewildering he's getting cast up about it after being away for so long. He left 18months ago - with the team sitting fifth in the league. I’m not blaming Alessio, i would’ve loved it to have worked out. It would’ve been refreshing and different. This is down to the players. Totally. He left 18months ago - with the team sitting fifth in the league. Appointing Alex Dyer was a dreadful move in hindsight. Recruitment has been appalling for the past couple of years. Case in point, signing a half decent keeper would probably have earned enough points to keep us up comfortably. Martin_T Posted May 25, 2021 Share Posted May 25, 2021 Alessio was probably a risky appointment, but in the circumstances, with a stable squad that had qualified for Europe comfortably the previous season, there was probably scope to take a gamble? Either way we have an awful tendency to blame the foreigner in our football, I can't see how Alessio can be held responsible for a relegation that occurred 18 months after he left, especially given that there has been 3 transfer windows since then. Similarly Daniel Stendel at Hearts was left with an injury ravaged and unbalanced squad at Hearts, but at least those who point the finger of blame for Hearts relegation at him can with some justification, point to the fact that he was in charge when it happened. Dundee are a big enough team that the love of the team outweighs the bitterness towards either cheek of the OF erse. Seems even an historic double win hasn't changed that mindset in Perth and elsewhere yet. They saw the reaction from fans and were told to go out the long way rather than have 30 or so fans chase after them. There was 8 police there last night, they even told the club staff and stewards that there wasnt enough of them to be able to do anything.
