PauloPerth
Potential Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round opponents:- These 5 and Celtic will be in a Champions league qualifying round. We will play one of the three losers (but not Celtic):- Rapid Vienna - runners up in Austrian Bundesliga to RB Salzburg. Pumped out their cup in the third round by RB Salzburg 6-2. PSV Eindhoven - runners up in Eredivisie to Ajax. Knocked out of Dutch Cup by Ajax in QF. Galatasary - runner up in Super Lig by 1 goal to Besiktas. Knocked out of Turkish Cup in QF by Alanyspor. Sparta Prague - runner up in Czech First League to Slavia. Knocked out of Czech Cup by Slavia in the semi-finals. Midtjylland - runner up in Danish Superliga to Brondby. Knocked out of Danish Cup by SonderjyskE in the semi-finals. So basically, a collection of runners up, losers. Not a trophy this season between the lot of them. Piece of piss. Next.

Trophyless diddies. We should be parachuted into the CL imo.

Radford
The draw for the Champions League QR2 is on 16 June, so at that stage, I think we'll be able to narrow it down to four potential opponents as the QR2 games are played w/c 19/26 July and the Europa League QR3 draw is 19 July, so we won't be able to be drawn against Celtic or their QR2 opponents. Jablonec also enter QR3 and won't be able to be drawn against Sparta Prague or their opponents.

The Real Saints
From the previous - slightly larger - group of options, Rapid Vienna and Midtjylland were the two I was hoping for. Avoid Galatasaray and we've got a shot. In truth, it looks like an easier path to group football if we progress and reach the Europa League play-offs, rather than losing and dropping down to the Conference League play-offs. Ray Patterson
Turkish football has fallen in quality massively over the last 3-4 years. Galatasaray would be beatable opponents. Midtjylland and PSV are must avoids.

Their attack looks like its currently Falcao and Babel.

They also had a 5M rated Egyptian international striker on loan last season, we had a The Rangers 7th choice youngster.... Radford
Saints will be much better prepared for these ties than they have been previously, on two fronts. One is the squad will be in a much better place. We won't be short of signings as we have been with the June ties and the players will be more conditioned with several weeks training behind them. The game in Armenia for example, played in 40°C heat, absolutely killed about half the squad and we had such a weak team out in the second leg. The team also have a system that they know inside out. Part of it was the limited options but some of the teams that Tommy Wright put out in Europe had little hope with the lack of any direction or style under him.

The upside of Scotland having a better coefficient is we are starting later than we have been. The downside is obviously the quality of opposition is higher. Callum having most of the squad already signed up and an actual effective plan A and B is light years ahead of the dinosaur before him. Two or three quality signings and we could give someone a right fright. Canny wait.
deej
Everyone including myself thinking Galatasaray would be a bad draw - what have they done in Europe recently that is better than what Rosenborg managed in the years leading up to 2013? Spoiler They did well 8 years ago, beating Man Utd at Home, Braga and Cluj away and drawing with Cluj at home to go through, before beating Schalke in the R16. The following year they beat Juve and Copenhagen at home, and drew in Turin which was somehow enough to go through again where they got put out by Chelsea. Since then in the UCL groups they've had 1 point, 5 points, 4 points and 2 points. They actually lost a cup tie last season at Ibrox, which must have been pretty embarrassing. jamamafegan
All this talk of basing preference on the dra’ on how “beatable” they are is pointless. Mittyland is by all accounts a shite away trip in the middle of nowhere. I want a class trip abroad. Prague is the number one choice for obvious reasons. Galatasary would be class as well, Istanbul is an incredible looking city and imagine seeing Saints play in that massive, bear pit of a stadium. It would be awesome. PSV would be good as well, so would Vienna. Face it - these are all excellent teams and we are almost certainly getting knocked out, we might as well get knocked out in a great location rather than in Danish bandit country.

I’d rank it: Prague Vienna/Eindhoven Istanbul (although you’d get given hiding off some Turks - not sure if this is a positive or a negative tbh). Random Danish town.

Tbf I think it's just the name more than anything. You see Galatasaray and automatically think they're strong, then see names you recognise in their squad, especially Falcao and Ryan Babel.

PauloPerth
Not huge amounts of time to arrange things again in terms of travel, time off work etc. The team we play will be a loser from the Champions league 2nd qualifying round, the second leg being on 27 or 28th July. The draw for our starting round, Europa League 3rd round, is on 19th July so it'll be a choice of two upto the 28th. Our first leg is a week later on 5th (second leg on the 12th August). The draw for the EL play off is on 2nd August, so we'll know who we'll be facing in the next round before our 3rd round tie.
