Not a great game but seventh spot secured as we look down on the obsessed Motherwell mob.😆

FT 0-0
Would you look at that, we’ve finished seventh after all. Highest league position since the 80’s. We have been fairly pish post split aswell, just one win out of five. The league table doesn’t lie though, we are the seventh best team in the country.
This game was actually fairly entertaining for an end of season 0-0. Both teams had good chances.
What an absolute huddy Lawrence Shankland is by the way. Missed an absolute sitter first half, free header from six yards out. Second half he just kept giving the ball away. Looked very much like the Championship level striker he is.
Cammy and Brophy missed good chances for us. We also got denied another clear penalty first half.
Defended well for the most part, good to get another clean sheet, it’s been a while. Thought Tait was excellent and Ethan had a good game too.
Been a great season despite a lot of near misses. Club is in good shape on and off the pitch. Onwards.

Tony Fitz thinks we’d have finished 5th if the fans were in, would like to see the working there tbh.

Never underestimate the power of a good boo my chubby friend.

I think we'd have finished 5th if we hadn't messed up with the Rona back in the autumn and had to play 5 consecutive midweek games

PS - Hurrah for Soccerbase which has us 5th on GD.  :jerry

None of us think we deserved to reach the final we did not play well enough.. If there was no league split we would have finished 5th with the best goal avarage.  But it's 7th officially which we are pleased with we will be stronger next season with 6 players inbound who are better than who they will replace.  The youth system has a conveyer belt of talent coming through good times are ahead.. Your own club has had a good season also.

You can't possibly think the league table is how it would be without a split.

No we would not. We played the other bottom 5, Livingston and the Saintees played the other top 5.

Goal average was done away with in the early 70s.

Agree I wrote offical 7th which we are pleased with. The quote you highlighted is just a fan comment off the cuff.

Yeah not sure about us as we've been pretty shite post split (bottom 6 & top 6), not winning any games, but on the form St Johnstone were on, if they hadn't made the top 6 in the last pre split game, and played bottom 6 teams, they'd prob be on at least 7 more points than they are now.

Which is why the split is a fucking stupid idea. Despite loads of people loving it, if you actually stand back and look at it objectively it's utterly flawed. It's there to solve a financial issue not a sporting one, and in fact, detrimentally impacts the "sporting integrity" of the league.
