That's dreadful for Jack. Hopefully he makes a full recovery. Camelon losing their captain preseason is a major setback for them.

Hope so but I'd imagine he will be out for a while. He was on the pitch for about an hour and a quarter before an ambulance came. It is a major setback

Fauldhouse Utd 3-2 Leith Athletic
Fauldhouse came out flying and were 2 up in about 5 minutes. Took Leith a while to adjust to Fauldhouse good aggressive and pacey style but when Leith pulled 1 back though they looked to have found the pace of the game and it was maybe against the run of play that Hoose went 3-1 which they held till half time. Second half Fauldhouse fell away as they introduced a lot of subs and Leith looked very good in control and fluid in their play across the park. Good game to watch 🙂

Coldstream 2-4 Tranent

Hosts very unlucky to lose their opening pre-season outing.

Home Park was looking fine and like many grounds has been spruced up since fans were last in - now sporting floodlights, plus log-cabin style dugouts. For the moment fans can't access the covered terracing nor social club (in use as auxiliary dressing rooms) but the club has laid on portaloos for certain necessities. It was a pleasant day but the stiff breeze kept conditions from stifling.

This encounter lacked the exuberance of Greenlaw-Tranent last week and felt more like standard preseason fare. Indeed with a large squad to call on, the visitors exhibited many different players, having also thumped Edinburgh Utd last night. Action in 1st half was weighted toward the East Lothian men but neither side made many chances, and at the break it was still tied 0-0.

Different story 2nd half. Hosts took lead with a fabulous long-range volley (memories of Zidane's winner in CL for Real Madrid at Hampden about 20yrs ago!). Visitors then struck back with a quick brace from a penalty then a rebound after the Streamers keeper made a good stop. Back again came the hosts and an inswinging corner was bundled in and correctly adjudged to have crossed the line.

Sadly for them 2 counterattacks in stoppage time saw their efforts finish in defeat.

Crowd of around 60. Hats-off to Coldstream for observing the necessary match and spectator protocols thoroughly but unintrusively.

Fri:

Tranent 4 Edinburgh United 1

Sat:

West Calder 2 Thorniewood 5

Cauther 2 down inside 5 minutes to their WoS opponents.

Pumpherston 4 Edinburgh United 2

Edinburgh given a bit of a lesson by a very impressive Belters side with 2 goals from the classy Matthew Knox. This cost them heavily on Saturday as a combination of missing players and fatigue meant that, despite dominating large spells of the game, they went 3-0 down at half time to Pumphy, before pulling it back to 3-2 then Sean Guiney scoring a spectacular Terry Butcheresque O.G. near the end.

Can anyone recommend a good site to find out what non-league games are on and when?

Am going to be in the Forfar area towards the end of July. Hoping to catch some PLS Cup games, but just in case, need a Plan B.

That's the best "one-stop shop" site.

Worth saying that although most of non-league football starts weekend of Saturday 17th July... Lowland, East, South, West, North Juniors... this mightn't be the case up in that area.

Highland starts later on July 24th - though are some heldover Aberdeenshire Cup ties in the preceding fortnight - and AFAICS no date yet for new Midland League which covers Tayside. (Having only just finished this season the North Caledonian aren't underway until August 21st but that's further afield).

Many thanks again!

I'm going have to get a lot more acquainted with which clubs are in which counties! LOL

As I said on another post, Annan, Montrose, Dundee/Brechin and Hearts/St. Mirren is the plan / hope.

Which of those are likely to be allowing non-season ticket holders in, would you say? If necessary, happy to travel slightly further afield from our base near Forfar for the latter three, but rather not drive to somewhere far-flung eg Brora!!! LOL

Ones where the capacity allowed by Scot Gov is higher than the number of season tickets? Annan and Brechin would be your best bet at the moment.

Got to remember parts of these grounds will be out of bounds as designated red zones.
