Pineapple on pizza - yay or nay?

Recommended Posts

First pizza I ever had was ham, pineapple and mushroom from a pizza place on Brighton Road, Brighton, South Australia in January 1975. You could even get a ham and pineapple sandwich or double cut roll back then and to finish things off a pineapple doughnut.

Tinned pineapple is howling in any form so it's a no for me

If you make a curry that's too hot a tin of pineapple can save it. It disappears and there is no noticeable taste. It just takes the edge of the raw heat.

I haven't charged you for this advice.

Included on this list are bricks, dog urethra, fibreglass, bear semen and neckbeard hair.

Sounds like someone’s been looking at Cous Cous Cuisine’s menu again.

Mushrooms don’t belong on a pizza though, slimey, putrid looking things.

Wash your whore mouth out.

My maw did this years ago, and it's correct.

It was also how she found out I was genuinely allergic to pineapple rather than being a fussy eater.

Fruit, and by further extension, sweet things, can and do match well with savoury foods. This is objectively true and there are tons of examples, both classical and modern.

Anyone claiming that pineapple (or mango) on a pizza are somehow wrong as a concept (outwith your own personal tastes) is in fact, wrong.

No ifs, no buts. Just wrong.

Wrong.

Note that the above isn't just my opinion. Its all factual stuff.

My daughter and I have a tin of canned peach slices with our curries.
