Released & Out of Contract Players

Recommended Posts

The Pars haven't announced anything yet but I believe the out of contract players are:

Cammy Gill - Young keeper, had the odd chance in the first team and didn't really take it. I'd imagine he'll be offered a new deal though.

Lewis Martin - Hasn't kicked a ball for us all season due to a calf injury, pretty sure he's seen a few specialists but no one can get to the bottom of the issue. Must be one of our longest serving players if not the longest serving player and only 25. Heart says we should offer him a new deal but it's difficult to justify.

Euan Murray - Was offered a deal months ago and didn't sign, negotiations have continued apparently but I think it's just a matter of time before a lower end Prem club sign him.

Steven Whittaker - Hopefully offered a new deal and wants to stay. Great experience and still life in him. Had some really decent performances in centre mid and is also part of the coaching setup.

Kyle Turner - 100% will leave the club. Signed as an exciting young player to improve and sell. Had an iffy first season but looked great at the start of this season. Put in a MOTM performance against Hearts, I think they then declared interest in him and his head was gone. Rumoured also to be a bit disruptive so after weeks of him not playing with no reason, he ended up going to Airdrie on loan.

Gabby McGill - I actually quite liked him playing with Nesbitt last year. Was on loan at Edinburgh City, then moved to York on loan when the SFL1 & 2 were shelved. Not sure how much he played down there but not a lot by the looks of things.

Swinton - Youth player, no idea

Miller Fenton - Think he could be one for the future. Went on loan to East Fife and done well by all accounts.

Edwards, Berry & Cusick too but they have a 1 year option. (Edwards won YPOTY, hopefully takes the extra year, Berry and Cuisick are youth players, so again no real idea).

Mayo, McInroy, Henderson, F.Murray, Banks loans expire. All really good players, I think all but McInroy are still contracted by their parent club into next season. McInroy started well but didn't do much lately, a local lad so could end up joining permanently. Would be happy with Mayo and F Murray coming back on loan. I think Henderson could still have a chance at Celtic but would be pleased to see him back. Banks has class but I think Palace will have other plans for him, potentially a loan to a higher placed team.

Gregor Buchanan

Tommy Goss

Nortei Nortey

Joe McKee

Dan Pybus

Diste Sylla

all confirmed as leaving Queens.

No major surprises other than Pybus who I thought was an AJ favourite.   Certainly none of the above can be considered to be consequential losses to the club.

Disappointed to see Nortei Nortey is away, just because of his name mind you, nothing to do with his football capabilities.  Match commentators loved a chuckle at his name.

Buchanan to come home to east end IMO

Pybus has chosen to leave. He'll have turned down an offer we made (assuming AJ wanted to keep him).

That's how it works on a one year contract. It's no surprise he's moving on.

Pybus was probably one of the better earners at Palmerston, signed on a 2yr deal by Naysmith with accommodation if Dan wasn't in AJ's main plan it's no real surprise to see him go.

Even if he was in the plan he's likely to have left. I know others don't rate him but he'll likely get a deal somewhere on a bigger wage than he was on with us.

My comment previously was really around the notion that we've chosen to let him go.  Almost certainly his choice.

Would honestly love to see that

Don't know about it being completely his own choice possibly mutual maybe  if he was offered the same deal he might have stayed? Hopefully AJ has a good Replacement lined up...

Like you I'm guessing re the details.  My instinct (based on absolutely no evidence) is  that we would have wanted him to stay and he's chosen to go.

We might have wanted him to stay on less/the same/more money. I've no way of knowing that.

I'd be happy to give Kyle Turner a second go at Morton, though I'm not sure how well he has done on loan. The rest of the players who are not heading to another club: not for me Clive.

Of the string of utter ringers and jobbers who will hopefully be chased out of Cappielow one minute after the play-off final, I think Nesbitt will pick up another club at this level. His second spell has been a real disappointment with a lack of consistent end product so it's best for both parties to move on.

A couple of others might stay in the division if Airdrie come up (Oliver for example) but the rest can go back to the joke outfits Hopkin signed them from.

Buchanan certainly looked more steady once Breen was beside him - I'd happily take Breen again but did someone say he's off to the  USA? Don't think GB is irreplaceable. Don't fancy taking Durnan back, but no doubt it's on the cards.

Shame about Nortey, looked decent at Dens and in Inverness, but far too much time out injured. Similar views re McKee.

Wee Dan? Often thought there was a Steve Bowey type midfield engine in there,  but that final pass in the last third ..... dearie me. Shame,  I liked the lad.

What about Jacobs?

File under might stay in the division - Oliver. Runs around tackling folk but can't pass the ball. Queen of the South and ourselves indicates his level so I'd expect him to find a less bin-firey destination but not be too fussed about it.

We’ve been linked with Jacobs and Nesbitt apparently.
