This is an odd line for an OF fan. Don't you both generally get pumped out of Europe by teams with a lower revenue than you?

Us under Gerrard? Not really. We barely lose games especially not in such an embarrassing fashion as Aberdeen Football Club. This season we lost to Malmo who have a lower revenue than us and were rightly slagged and slated for it.

Losing at home, against ten men is pretty embarrassing, no?

Nah losing home and away when you're the seeded team is definitely worse.

Ultimately the only Scottish sides that can say they've done themselves proud in Europe this season are Hibs and St Johnstone. Everyone else has failed.

Nice try but even the mildest application of logic sees through that.

How? Hibs didn't get as far sure but you can surely admit you got a much easier draw last round?

You telling me if Aberdeen had been knocked out 5-2 by Rijeka you'd be on here talking about how Aberdeen did themselves proud? Behave yourself.

Not sugar coating what was a dreadful performance by Aberdeen either but Hibs and St. Johnstone (twice) were papped out comfortably by teams that were always expected to beat them. Let's not make them out to be grand achievements.

The difference is that your expectations should be higher than St Johnstone or Hibs and LASK, Rijeka and Galatasary are all better than Qarabag. You got good draws this season ultimately you should have qualified.

Then why have Qarabag consistently done better than Rijeka in Europe in recent years. Qarabag were the seeded team for a reason and just saying you should have beat them for a troll doesn't really change that.

I didn't say Marley Watkins himself was a backward step (although I'm far less enthused by his return than some) but it's a McInnes signing. We replace the manager and the head of recruitment but bring in the same player. It makes me wonder why we bothered getting rid of McInnes.

That’s one of the strangest things you’ve ever posted. Marley Watkins was only with us between August and late November last season but was arguably our best player throughout the whole season. Would you say the same thing if we signed James Maddison?

To put this result into context - they are worse than LASK and Rijeka.

Eh, no they aren't. Have the same coefficient as LASK and a significantly higher one than Rijeka. Qarabag have narrowly missed being in Pot 1 for the Group stages. They have consistently made group stages despite Azerbaijan being 26th in the country coefficient. Personally I think they'd have pumped Rangers and Celtic over two legs. Hopefully one of them finish 3rd and drop down the Conference league and have to face them.

According to UEFA, rather than this European football expert, LASK and Qarabag are equals of each other and both are better than Rijeka.

ps  St Johnstone are not rated that highly, they just took Galatasaray's coefficient for the draw, hence the brackets.
