A rare beast, Scotland winning without their opponents getting on the board. A 6-0 win over the Czech Republic.

Two games tonight, first one against the Netherlands, second one against Sweden.e2a45a8562ee97028ca3aa4cfb374d1d.jpg

Even stranger still, the Czech’s won the draw shot challenge to have hammer in the first end. The ends then went:

1. Blank

2. Scotland steal 1 point to lead 1-0

3. Blank

4. Scotland steal 1 point to lead 2-0

5. Blank

6. Blank

7. Scotland steal 1 point to lead 3-0

8. Scotland steal 1 point to lead 4-0

9. Scotland steal 2 points to lead 6-0

10. Not played as the Czechs conceded after 9

Scotland never had the hammer once during the game.

Scotland have 4 games left over the last 2 days of round robin play.

Win all 4 and they will top the table, get a bye to the semi-final and hammer advantage throughout the playoffs.

Win 3 (including beating Sweden) and they’ll likely finish 2nd, with a bye to the SF and hammer advantage in that

Win 3 (without beating Sweden) probably gets your 3rd, and you’d get hammer advantage in the QF.

Even a 2-2 record would almost certainly be enough to make the QF.

1-3 probably leaves you needing to rely on tiebreakers, and 0-4 probably leaves you on the outside looking in.

Huge day for Scotland  - surely beat the Netherlands who sit bottom of the table then massive game v Sweden (who have just lost to Korea)

Did well to break the 3-game losing streak and hold their nerve to make the playoffs.

Must beat USA in the 4/5 game at 10pm tonight to have a chance to play for a medal. If they do, then the SF would be against top seeded Canada at 3am, with the medal matches tomorrow

Team Mouat also won the Pinty's Cup for being the most consistent team across the season.

No offence to the Paterson/Waddell team, but Mouat would have easily won the world championship last week.

World mixed doubles is on in Geneva this week and the Scottish team of Eve Muirhead and Bobby Lammie have raced out to 4-0 with wins over England, Australia, Czech Republic and well fancied Canada.

Germany and the USA tomorrow, Hungary on Wednesday and then

Turkey and Spain to finish off on Thursday. The winner of each group goes straight into the semi finals whilst the 2nd and 3rd placed teams will go into a play-in game for a semi-final spot

Scotland won group B and go straight to the semi final, playing Germany at 3pm today after the Germans beat Sweden in the QF this morning. Switzerland won the other group and will play Norway, who knocked out well fancied Canada.
