Much as it would be a bit of a chuckle to relegate Morton we really are historically bad and it just won’t happen.

I trust you'll be cheering on Airdrie/Cove/Montrose* in that endeavor then.

Morton are unbeaten in their last 5 which includes Hearts and Motherwell.

Across the last 12 games we are 8th in League One. Last 6 and 8 we are bottom. Morton may not be world beaters but we are genuinely one of the 5 or 6 worst teams in the SPFL.

We also only scored 22 goals in our 27 league games.

Morton beating anyone is not a foregone conclusion because we genuinely couldn't be confident of managing to score against Brechin. Forfar and Dumbarton are the only clubs in League One who don't have better attacking options than us; a carthorse like Sammon is miles ahead of what we've got.

If it does end up in a Morton v Falkirk semi-final it's entirely feasible that Falkirk play terribly but get through by virtue of two clean sheets.

Either way, if you end up fourth it's going to be win win entertainment for neutrals. Laughing at either a Morton side with 2 wins in 19 or a Falkirk side who could make with it in 1 win in 9, in the knowledge the winner is likely to get pumped by Cove or Airdrie anyway.

Durnan and Miller for Leitch and McLelland. Meh. As delighted as I am that they are both dropped it’s still just 2 other shite players coming in and I’m still utterly seething at Durnan for his pathetic performance on Thursday.

Would rather risk getting beat with a youngster at the back than have Durnan pull on the navy blue again.

I would have accepted the loss of form if it coincided directly with the injuries. We would obviously be far better at the back with Dixon in there and far more dangerous going forward with Telfer and Connolly in the team just now.

But after winning 6 and drawing 2 of our first 8 games (and Connolly only started in 1 of those) there have been a good number of weeks when everyone else has been available. The two defeats against Airdrie are classic examples of that.

It also annoys me that so many mistakes have been persisted with. 1 up front. A central midfield pairing with no goal threat. Todd being stuck on left midfield. Playing our oldest, slowest players at fullback. Two thirds of the goals we concede coming from set pieces. Shelling high balls up to our strikers, even though none of them are any good in the air. Ill discipline (no surprise we are 2nd bottom of the fair play table). Fannying around with short corners and freekicks. Sadly virtually all of these traits started under M&M and none of them have improved under Holt.

We were even given a two month break after the appalling defeat at East Fife to sort our shit out. A mild improvement followed and it looked like we would see out promotion comfortably enough - but since the most recent defeat by Airdrie it has been utterly grim

I actually don’t mind that line up tonight. Miller and Gomis as a 2 in midfield might give us a bit more in the middle.

That prematch interview with Holt was painful to watch.

What bursts my heid with him (and other managers like him tbf) is the whole thing about “not making excuses” or “not dwelling”....despite having just made an “excuse” (injuries) or dwelling (“we should have had  2 penalties”).

Also, the whole “smiles on faces” seems to have run its course already....

That’s us gone pretty much full strength bar Carrick swapping out for Dean Ritchie. Fair enough. Without being too cheeky/getting ahead of myself hopefully we can kill the game in the first half and take a few boys off in the second half. No Crighton on the bench is a strange one though as there’s no proper defender on the bench at all. I take it he’s still not fully fit?

Guess I'm about year late with this opinion, but that Airdrie top is fantastic (shame about the sponsors).

Does anyone remember a site that did retro Scottish league tops for most clubs (not just the big ones)? Sure was on it in the last few years but cannot find it now (always did think it must be flirting with copyright/IP law).
