Raith v Dunfermline. Dunfermline v Raith

Recommended Posts

Terrible.  Delighted to still be in the tie.  Playing "our game" is commendable and all that, but when it doesn't work its grim.  You could see how dangerous it was on Friday, yet we are still taking unnecessary chances in areas we shouldn't.

That said, Pars have the tactics spot on so far.

This is easily our best available 11 so really unsure what we do in this 2nd half.

Just relived to get to the half level. Started well but Dunfermline have dominated after the first ten minutes. The only consolation is that they haven’t scored.  They are closing us down quickly and we look a bit ponderous at times. Got a feeling that the first goal is going to be crucial in this and whoever gets it’s could go on to win 2 or 3 nil.

Brutal half from Rovers there. Not linking into the front players at all, partly due to very good Dunfermline press and partly just some poor passing. Subsequently we've got brutalised on the counter and very lucky to go in level. Some real naive defending as well, ball chasing and getting pulled out of position.

Not great at all.

Whittaker has been our best player and we do look tidy in the final third but haven’t manage to take any chances. Some save from MacDonald from O’Hara. We had an incredible chance where Henderson should have played O’Hara in for a 1 v 1 where you’d fancy O’Hara to score.

Kennedy slipping when he just had to play in Tumilty probably sums it up. All over the park we seem to want a half second more than there is, and we’re very panicky at times.

Pars should be ahead. No absolute sitters as such, best chance was the one where Henderson failed to slip in the guy 2 on 1. But they should be ahead.

Need to get a grip of the game, and I’m not really sure what would help us do it. In theory Duku or more likely Ugwu on up top to hold it better but we know that doesn’t really work. Matthews might need to go off at some stage and you have to really fear for us if so.

We've had plenty of the ball but done nothing with it. Spencer in particular was guilty of gifting away possession a good number of times in the first twenty minutes leading to dangerous opportunities but we've gradually improved without carving anything of meaning out. Defensively....we look like we'll get blown away by a light breeze. Eventually the Pars will take one of these chances if the game keeps going this way. Whittaker has been exceptional and even the likes of Thomas looks far more lively and has been excellent at bringing others into play. If we can hold on to full time, I'd be absolutely delighted given how many chances we've given away.

You struggle to see where a Rovers goal is going to come from. Probably Tumilty? We're doing nothing middle to front, especially compared to the Pars who've flooded forward several times after turning the ball over.

Makes it all the more galling that we threw away our first two corners. Chances are going to be few and far between. Short corners in and of themselves aren't an issue, particularly when the opposition have Paul Watson and Euan Murray in the middle, but failing to find a man with the first and turning into immediate trouble with the second is inexcusable.
