The clubs have already been asked to adopt a mutual common sense approach to this, as it will affect every team in what is a unique summer (hopefully). In reality we're only talking the difference of a week from the old SJFA registration dates, and there are a good number of players who are still signed up only to the 3rd weekend in June anyway.

Hopefully most if not all clubs will "play the game" and release the registration of players whose contracts are about to expire and who they know are moving on, to allow them to play in friendly matches for their new teams before the end of June.

The WoSFL Board have been aware of and discussed this issue for some time and have already alerted the clubs to it.

A lot of these players will have received a decent wedge as a signing on fee last year.

I’m  sure some clubs will want some of it back if they are going to pastures new this season.

If it not forthcoming they are perfectly within their rights not to release these players

Some teams are not releasing players because they players have not handed in the strips or training gear.  Some bigger clubs can afford it but a lot of clubs in the WOSFL cant, so they require the gear back. So the club is in their right to retain the player until he hands the match and training kits back

Aye right. The SFA would love to hear that case.

Such an example would not be a matter for the Scottish FA. If a player owes property back to the club and he is still under contract, then that club is under no obligation to release his registration before the expiry date until agreement is reached between the player and the club.
