I just find it utterly remarkable that something so childish is seemingly enough to send grown adults into depression. I would be more understanding if someone was regularly receiving nasty PM’s or horrible comments were being made about them. Red dots on the other hand, they are completely meaningless. It’s a coloured dot on an Internet forum. If someone is depressed simply because of red dots then I would really hope they do the right thing and log out of P&B and seek the help they need. Getting red dotted regularly every day for no apparent reason might be enough to tip you over the edge if you're already on the verge of depression, though

welshbairn
I suppose you'd be doing them a favour by red dotting every post they make until they realise the internet is not for them.

The way you've worded it you'd think they were red dotting themselves. It's not them using the internet that's the problem here.

2426255
I love giving out green dots to make people feel good about themselves and brighten up their day. It's what gets me off: gives my life meaning and makes my life worth living.
Bonksy+HisChristianParade
I think making sure you’re not in a dotting deficit is pretty important - the ratio should be at least 2:1 of ‘Charles’ given out to reds. In saying that, I think the reputation system should be binned. I can’t say I understand the concept of middle aged men getting upset about coloured circles on an anonymous football messageboard, however that is the sad reality we live in on The Forum. If disposing of ‘greenies’ and reds would create a more harmonious space for us all to bond (balding middle aged men & young stallions alike) then I’m all for it.

Popular Post Shandon Par
It was all quickly deleted but the legacy is the stuff about me dropping out of Napier. Some anonymous poster appeared, who had a remarkably posting style to an oft-banned Falkirk poster who appears to respond to a Marshmallo bat signal. This new poster had mistaken me for someone they knew. This person, bizarrely, must have passed off an anecdote of mine from P&B as their own. Despite being corrected on the matter, even by people who know me, they styled it out. Marshmallo continued to red dot my replies and support his ally’s crusade. It amused me as much as it annoyed me but it made me think they were getting into very dodgy territory. Accusing me of being some sort of danger to women but worst of all, having gone to Napier. If that’s not bullying, shitty behaviour then what is? Who sets the parameters that trolls can say what they like online and those on ther receiving end have to modify their behaviour. And let’s face it, the length of time Marshmallo has been on here he must be rapidly heading to middle age yet comes across like a 20 year old. You don’t really know who you are prodding. What joy is missing from your life that antagonising folk for sport os what you chose to do? I’m sure Marshy is a decent enough person in real life and makes fair points on Falkirk threads etc. I’m a big Fife version of Chris Eubank so not really too perturbed but much but less delicate people must be impacted by being picked on, even if it’s as mins or a thing as a wee dot. Peace and love to all, even Falkirk.
