Oh, definitely not. Some very concerning content from Gordon over the past few weeks.

I've only come back in the last couple of weeks after a 3 year hiatus, so can't comment on his general output, but "bead rattlers" is way past the line of decency.

Whilst France actually did fight in WW2, Denmark capitulated after 6 hours.

I think the 'France surrender lol' patter is awful gammony shite.

Like cancelling TV and radio, how is changing the kick off time of a football game in any way a 'mark of respect'?!

What would Denmark have done against the nazi war machine other than getting lots of its populace killed

Very true.  Denmark only had a tiny occupation force during the war (unlike Norway) and even held an election IIRC.

They also protected their Jews.  The King wore a Star of David even though he was not Jewish.  More than 99% of Danish Jews survived the war.

That cheered me up. Confirmation (if any was needed) that we don't just have a different culture to England, we are actually in some kind of parallel universe.

It was a fashion for newly independent countries to have constitutional monarchs foisted on them- mainly Germans. In the 19th Century Greece, Romania and Bulgaria* all got German monarchs.

In 1913 the Dutch Prince Wilhelm was foisted on Albania but they soon gave him the bum's rush. Finland was also meant to have a King but he got the boot too. As late as WWII this sort of thing was going on as an Italian Prince was offered the Crown of the fascist Croatian state.

*In 1945 the Soviets kicked out the young King Simeon of Bulgaria. After the fall of Communism there he returned from exile and was elected Prime Minister as Simeon Saxe-Coburg Gotha. He is distantly related to Lizzy.
