The Binos v Albion Rovers

Recommended Posts

After defeat by Queens at the weekend it’s back to Forthbank on Tuesday night to face a Rovers side fresh from a good win away to Cowdenbeath.

Given the 3 way tie below Queens in the League it’s vital we get back to winning ways against a team below us in the League. Expect a couple of changes to the team that faced Queens.

Prediction Binos 2 Albion Rovers 0

Interesting game as unusually Stirling try to bounce back from a rare defeat and Rovers try and build from the excellent and much needed win at Cowden. The earlier game at Cliftonhill was quite a tight affair and Stirling have been masters of 1-0 wins. Totally different Rovers team now- only problem now as with every L2 (and L1) side is the inevitable start of injuries as the games come thick and fast. The Binos don’t lose many goals so would be more than happy with a draw.

In earlier game thought AR deserved a draw or yes a win. Team-spirit is high at forthbank. Abundance of goal scorers. Yet only winning 1-0. It’s that time in the season where we are looking at other fixtures on the night. Still loads of points to be dropped in the run in. Hope we drop the least.

It’s a game we should be winning in all fairness to Albion Rovers. We seem to be grinding out results and are difficult to beat. With the squad we have we should be scoring more but as stated we seem unable to score more than 1 goal a game with the exception of a away win at Brechin. Let’s hope tonight we can buck this trend.

Well a better second  half,  and we might have won that but for their goalkeeper who had four excellent saves. Although if Blair Curtie hadn't saved the penalty at 1-0  there didn't look a way back for us. It took that save to wake us up.

We should be beating teams like Albion Rovers at home no offence to Rovers but tonight we were poor in the 1st half, lost a dreadful goal and might have gone 2-0;down bar a good penalty save from Blair Currie before we started to play. Got the equaliser from an Andy Ryan penalty and should have won the game but at least 4 great saves from Rovers goalkeeper Harry Stone denied us the points. Only started to play in the 2 half with Mackin and Kirkpatrick coming on. Two points dropped at home, let’s hope KR learnt something from this game about chopping and changing the team. Need to go to Annan on Saturday and make sure we get all 3 points.

Would have taken a point before the game but it could have been all three. The difference in playing budgets between the two will be night and day so probably Stirling will feel they should beat the likes of the Rovers but, you still need to earn that right. Rovers playing with a bit more purpose now and defensively more confident thanks in part to young Harry Stone in goal. 6 pointer on Saturday.

Bet you wished AR were playing SA every week.

Do you know I’m just delighted we are on the semblance of some sort of points gathering run- not that we are out of trouble by a long shot. I thought your manager gave a fair assessment of the game (he normally) which might not what Stirling fans want to hear. Apart from QP it’s a right old tight table in both halves.

Wonder how much I would get from the bookies for Harry Stone to be Scotland No 1 one day emoji848.png

Not as much as you would like.  Yes he has talent and we were fortunate to benefit from that talent earlier in the season. But when he is opposing you, he or rather AR  are not invincible.
