Craig Gordon is 39 before the year is out.

Marshall is still just 36, so we can possibly get through the WC qualification process and then the WC (if we qualify) with him at 37/38. After that though, we need McLaughlin playing regularly to buy us some more time for someone to come through.

I just think with Marshall having a poor club season, becoming a national hero (and now everyone having him again) and getting on a bit, he might just decide that the Euros would be a nice way to end his career. Or he'll be happy coining it in as a backup somewhere, in which case we'll need to drop him anyway.

Gordon won't retire now but might at the end of the season, however the amount of time he's missed in football might drive him to play for longer.

I agree that sentiment is highly plausible, but I'd guess that a retirement in November after the last international fixtures of the year, having got the 3 caps he needs for the hall of fame is more likely.

Angus Gunn signed for Norwich today so is back in the Premier League at a team where he might have a chance of playing some games.  With Henderson and Ramsdale younger than him and involved it might be worth at least asking the question in case he's improved.

Agree, over and above this he's played a grand total of 37 games in the past 3 years representing mediocre 2nd tier and lower end top tier sides so pretty sure we don't need to go cap in hand begging someone who doesn't really give a toss about us.

If Liam Kelly makes the right decision with his next club, then I'd guess he'll be next in line.

I'm not sold on Ross McCrorie at all tbh, seemed woeful for Livingston last season. I've got him filed in my mind beside Doohan as "talented but hindered due to development club". Both seem to have something but also seem to struggle when put under any sustained pressure, as if their time in dominent youth sides has protected them from that until now.

If we are playing Ross McCrorie in nets, we really are in trouble! Still rather him than Jack Hamilton mind.

Craig Macgillivray won Portsmouth's POTY. Obviously English League One isnt a great standard and Pompey didnt have a great season, but he must have something about him. Would like to see him or Kelly being given a chance in the squad, certainly over McCrorie, Doohan, Clark or Bain.

😂 have Ross McCrorie on the brain for some reason.

MacGillivray turns 29 next season, wonder if its already too late for him to be any use?

Probably end up like our striker situation, in that we switch around between jobbers in the squad until someone breaks through.

He has a top flight clean sheet under his belt.

It will be interesting to see who we pick over the September, October and November World Cup Qualifying campaign squads. Craig Gordon has no intentions of retiring himself as expected and I can't really see a change in goalkeeper selection for the September games.

So did Che Adam’s tbf. Angus is English and still thinks he can play for England, which isn’t unreasonable when you look at some of the keepers that have made their squad recently.
If in a couple of years if he still hasn’t got in the squad could see him getting capped for us.
The dearth of young Scottish keepers is a real worry. Hopefully we are able to find some good English ones with a Scottish granny somewhere.

McLaughlin got his first cap at the age of 30, did he not? If he's the best we've got call him up but it looks like English League 1 might be about his level.
