Misery Loves Company: Dunfermline vs Hearts

Recommended Posts

It's unfair to make sweeping generalisations about all the supporters of a given club so lets just say that Hearts Supporters reactions to recent results have run the gamut from crazed fury to being rather disgruntled indeed. Quite what level of reaction is appropriate is open to debate but we can all agree that being gruntled is no longer an option.

But while we can feel sorry for ourselves that a promising season has stalled recently spare a thought for our hosts this weekend. 3 points from the last 15, a cup exit and getting gubbed 5-1 by their local  rivals. If the Hearts bandwagon has suffered a puncture, the Dunfermline one has  lost a wheel.

We know both squad are capable of better than  they have done lately but will Crawford or Neilson's attempts at running repairs be more effective?

The Return of Michael Smith and Craig Gordon suggest that Robbie at least has the tools at his disposal and while while Shay Logan's arrival may not be cause to open the champagne even the prospect of a back 4 that contains neither Popescu nor Berra for the first time this season prompted me to put the kettle on for a celebratory cup of tea.

Christ alone knows what our team will be - if you were to leave everyone out who needs dropped, we'd struggle to put out a five-a-side team.

Kingsley won't make it, and there's been no word on Naismith.

Hopefully Gordon in goal with Logan and Smith at RB & CB.

Henderson showed a wee bit of pace and directness after coming off the bench last week, and Boyce wasn't absolutely dreadful.

Other than that, it's pretty much a case of filling jerseys.

Playing GMS in the middle is an experiment that has run it's course and the many of Dunfermline's huge heap of problems last night were on their right so moving him out to our left where he belongs make sense

Interesting to see Hearts bolster their squad with ScotRails arch nemesis.

Why waste money when you have basically won the league? I know Neilson is shit but it seems totally bizarre to recruit at this time in the season in the position Hearts are in.

Have you not seen all the people moaning that Hearts aren’t winning the league by enough for a team with our resources.

Spending a little of those resources on steadying the ship and putting a bit of gloss on the end of the season might just cheer people up a little.

Whether it would be a good idea to sign him on a longer term basis is a matter for speculation but that speculation will be better informed once we’ve auditioned him
