Raith Rovers v Dunfermline Athletic

Recommended Posts

Formation wise, Crawford should have expected us to play that way. Dropping ugwu and duku is the only thing that should have surprised him about how we lined up tonight. He tried changing things a couple of times tonight and it was evident the players didn't know what they should be doing. He's signed good players but he doesn't have a clue how to make them into a team.

The howler from OFW at the free kick aside, pretty much.

From what I remember.

First goal Henderson is the wrong side, our rcb has taken a healthy dose of diazepam before the game and might well be unconscious, not the worst mistake of the night, but awful defending.

The second goal wad the cross? Where we weren't playing with a right back due to a change in formation that led to no one deciding to defend that area, Vaughan with a tap in with Murray somewhere on the football pitch, a howling bit of play.

The third, is as you say, not nice.

Fourth was the one where Mayo passed it straight to the Raith player?

All the goals were beneficeries of some absolutely diabolical defending, ours included. That Lewis Mayo is barely a football player.

All told a great laugh

Great to see the real Jamie Gullan again.

The football we played tonight was just phenomenal.
Going too far to say it’s reminiscent of the Nicholl teams?

Not at all. I think the same.

Incredible performance by us, as good a performance as I can remember seeing. Dunfermline were awful but we certainly contributed to that in a big way with our approach to the game. Totally dominant from start to finish. Great energy and pressing from the front and excellent in possession with superb passing and movement. Some cracking goals too.

There wasn’t a failure in the entire team, seems almost unfair to single out players but I’m going to anyway! Vaughan and Gullan could finally be the solution to our striking problems, they linked superbly and it’s just brilliant to see Vaughan back to his best, let’s hope he stays fit. However, I thought the best player on the park was Regan Hendry he totally controlled the game and was imperious, a fabulous footballer and we just have to enjoy every game we have him for.

Great to see how desperate the players were to make up for the embarrassment at East End Park, just a shame we couldn’t be there to enjoy it.

Credit to McGlynn for leaving out the physical striker. Got his selection and formation spot on. Crawford really had no answer, a couple of formation changes, 3 subs and couldn’t work out how to counteract it. He really is out of his depth. Petrie seems the obvious choice for Dunfermline and I think he would get that squad of players firing but I hope Crawford gets a little longer obviously.

Fair play to the Pars fans who have taken it very well, rather disappointingly.

There's so much to talk about after that I don't even know where to start, but this post pretty much sums it all up.

It's almost enough to make me greet knowing that we'll most likely never see Regan Hendry playing for Rovers in the flesh again.

It’s always going to be the case that one teams outstanding play is another teams poor defending. Looking at the overall zip to Rovers play tonight makes me lean towards us being really good rather than the Pars being bad but I realise others will see it the other way.

To be fair I think Crawford set up expecting us to play a different game, probably Ugwu or Duku and was caught out by McGlynn playing a team he didn’t expect. Pars were all at sea as they’d prepared for a different plan and you could see Crawford trying to change it with the note passed to change formation but unfortunately for Pars their players failed to adapt to the way we’d set up. We played really well but I think the Pars just got their game plan totally wrong and failed to adapt it.

You didn't feel comfortable at 4-1? With us enjoying almost blanket possession??

You must be a nervous wreck at most games

I sympathise somewhat, we could be 5-0 up with five minutes to go and I still worry.

Haven’t read anything, but holy f**k, what a hammering. 5-1. On TV. We were incredible. The pars were absolute horseshite. Yes. I am drinking. Get it up ye

So am I, I bloody need to after watching that. And yes, we were complete fucking toilet.

Chastening stuff. Absolutely toothless and clueless throughout the whole game.

Rovers completely strolled it from the soup all the way through to the fucking coffee and After Eights and it was harsh on them that they conceded. Nothing for it except to suck it up, we were fucking humped rotten.

Ouch.

It’s all swings and roundabouts. Enjoy the good times, forget the bad

Wee bit harsh on your goal, Thought O’Hara took it well and left our defender for dead. We were the better team tonight but your goal was fully deserved after Jamie MacDonald had a wee howler.

Agreed. I was moaning about the marking, but having seen the replay it's a beauty of a ball in and is well taken.

Quite what Macdonald was playing at I've no idea. Him and the defender leaving it for each other by the looks of it.

That's as big a gulf in quality as you'll see in this league all season. You could see from the word go that Dunfermline had no answer to our shape and movement and they were chasing their tails from the off. They changed their shape to 3 at the back but I'd be lying if I said it made an iota of difference. To be fair to the Pars fans on here, absolutely everything they said about how bad they were was true.

Outstanding time for us to get into gear and finally really show how good we can be. If we can maintain that level of performance we will be a hell of a test for any side in the playoffs. Over the moon for Lewis Vaughan especially, but also Jamie Gullan who has struggled a wee bit since coming back; tonight will do him the world of good.

The way Hearts fails to keep winning, I'm not sure this thing is over yet if you go on a run to end the year.
