I move home in under two weeks and have wardrobes and nursery furniture to build. I need to get shelves up in the garage and cupboard plus other odd jobs.

I'm going to buy a cordless drill but I have no idea where to start or what to spend. Any suggestions?

Bit late but don't fanny about trying to use random old screws and rawlplugs etc,, buy a countersink drill bit, decent screws and matching rawlplugs if you need them. Makes life much easier. And loads of wood glue and an assortment of cheap clamps.

Has anyone had their kerb dropped recently in Fife and what is roughly the cost?

About £500 if you just wait til some travellers arrive in your area. They'll do it (badly) for a song. Just don't try to get them to rectify any issues when you're subsequently disappointed with the outcome though, if you value your kneecaps.
