Airdrie vs Thistle - 27th March

Recommended Posts

Amazing save by Wright, but it looked like the chance came of his own making when he flapped at the cross a few seconds earlier.

After the equaliser out of nowhere we’ve been right on top. Graham’s miss was awful.

We are dropping far too deep when Thistle have the ball in final third, our back line is practically on top of the goalkeeper. Graham should have made us pay for that there but they'll get other chances unless we start pushing up.

There we go. Header from about 4 yards out. No pressure on any crosses. Back line continually dropping right on top of the goalkeeper so any Partick player winning the ball is a certain goal.

That red card was in no way harsh.

Yeah no complaints about that, just a really stupid tackle to make. I think our commentator is generally fairly balanced (our co-commentator less so) but that’s as obvious a red card as you’ll see.

That tackle would have been a red card even when the Airdrie team of the early-mid 90s were doing it.

Would also love to know how the linesman didn't think the goal at the end was offside, did he think an Airdrie player had whacked it towards his own goal?

A good half hour either side of half time, not a surprise we tried to get Geggan and Bell some minutes but game went a bit playground football after that. Would have hoped Rudden getting a goal midweek would have helped him with some of the chances today but sadly not.

6 of our 14 league goals this season have come vs Airdrie but definitely look a bit better going forward now (if you ignore the first 30 minutes)

Good to see us bounce back from that early goal we conceded. A bright start from Tiffoney which is encouraging.

Unfortunately, we have a minute chance of automatic promotion but we should make the playoffs now and whatever that may bring...

A great result for us. We were shocking until we scored, Wright pulls off an outstanding save and we break away and level. After that it was mainly all us we had a lot of chances and really should have scored more than four.  But at the end of the day we got a great result.
Tiffoney our Man of the Match by a mile, he was superb.

Dreadful until our first goal, but after that was as well as we’ve played this season, although we certainly should have scored a few more goals.

Tiffoney looks like he’ll be an important player for us. Airdrie also defended appallingly, which was nice. I was quite impressed with Paton today though, and the two wingers were good in the first half but fell out of the game after that.
