It's to try and change the narrative of Tory scandals and to give there frothing at mouth base something to get excited about ie refugees and hanging

tamthebam
The only country in Europe to have the death penalty is Lukashenko's Belarus. Even Russia doesn't have it (thanks to drunken Boris: Putin just does it unofficially with cups of dodgy tea). This balloon Anderson can say what he wants, even in a House of Commons free vote it would be unlikely to be restored and no politician would be stupid enough have a referendum on it.
Dan Steele
I think the word he's looking for is won't, not can't. Although he is a proper can't, right enough Hunt says he can't afford 'major' new scheme to help people with energy bills from April

Mark Connolly
I may have missed it in amongst everything else, but, with regard to the scandal about the BBC Chairman, has anyone asked why the then incumbent Prime Minister was in sudden need of 800 grand?

Florentine_Pogen
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/feb/12/firm-won-ppe-contract-greg-hands-approached-by-tory-activist-luxe-lifestyle "A lifestyle company won a £25.8m government contract for PPE through the so-called VIP lane after the new Conservative chair, Greg Hands, was approached by a local Tory activist, new documents suggest. Luxe Lifestyle, a company trading in “specialised design activities”, had no published accounts at the time the contract was awarded, and did not appear to have a history of supplying PPE. It is understood Hands, then a trade minister, made a referral to officials in early April 2020 after a Conservative activist, Mark Higton, approached him about a contact offering PPE and other items. Leaked documents, obtained by the Good Law Project, later listed a PPE contract as “Minister Hands/Luxe Lifestyle” and the point of contact as “Mark Higton”, a former chair of a neighbouring constituency association."

coprolite
Shocking revelations now emerging that one payment of almost £1m was made to a company that had a track record of supplying suitable PPE and had no connection to the Conservative Party. Some c**t in a top hat was quoted between sips of port as saying this was “not on” and “that money could have gone to one of the chaps, what”
101
Begum highlighting Tory hypocrisy, apparently actions she made at 15, decisions that were obviously very dangerous and potentially could cause harm to the UK, and as a result lost her citizenship. The Tories have been cheering on an appeal that was defeated yesterday whilst at the same time saying you can't lower the age people can transition their gender to under 18 because they will all change their mind. I'm not sure they have been paying close enough attention to their arguments, or more likely they don't care.

As I remember it the Tories were against proposals to lower the voting age to 16 at General Elections because 16 year olds did not have the necessary maturity.

AndyM
25 grand of public money for 4 short speeches and 2 questions. It's fair to say her attendance record in the HoL was of the "At least she was there mair than Michelle Mone" variety. FML. Former Edinburgh MSP Ruth Davidson claimed almost £25,000 in expenses in one year - Edinburgh Live
