Tory Lies, Corruption and Hypocrisy- Add Them Here

Recommended Posts

In the interests of not having whataboutery on the Nicola Sturgeon thread and keeping it focused, here's a thread to post any lies or misleading statements by the Conservative govt under Boris Johnson. I daresay it'll wither on the vine if there aren't any.

I'll start.

1. Northern Ireland border.

https://www.itv.com/news/2019-12-08/boris-johnson-insists-no-brexit-checks-between-northern-ireland-great-britain-labels-leaked-treasury-document-wrong

2. Covid contracts

https://goodlawproject.org/update/johnson-misled-parliament/

3. Labour's vote on NHS pay increase

https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/boris-johnson-labour-nhs-pay-incorrect

4. Illegal prorogue of parliament

Fill your boots.

Was thinking about a thread like this but to total up all the obvious corruption emerging from COVID contracts. I think it'd be handy to have a very short summary of the lie for each link, nobody's going to read all the web links.

It's amazing how none of them are BBC or Sky links

Think we should be adding more than lies in here. Document everything - the lies, hypocrisy and the corruption.

Fair points. Topic adjusted and links summarised.

PPE medpro incorporated in May with £100 of capital, awarded £122 million PPE contract without tender. PPE Medpro is owned by Anthony Page, a former business associate of Michelle Mone and her billionaire partner Doug Barrowman. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55275597 https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/18780543.government-awarded-urgent-ppe-contract-firm-run-ex-associate-tory-peer-michelle-mone/

Platform-14 is a company run by ex conservative councillor Stephen Dechan which made a loss of £500,000 in 2019. In 2020 it was awarded two PPE contracts worth £156million and £120million without tender. He spent some of the money on this house:

Quote

Dechan, who was raised in the Scottish Borders, said that since receiving the contracts he had taken a salary of “round about £400,000”, adding: “My wife has taken about £150,000.”

He said some of the money was “back pay” after five years when Platform-14 had struggled financially. During that period he had paid himself about £25,000 a year, below the average annual full-time salary.

Hinpack, run by Alex Bourne who used to be a pub landlord on friendly terms with Health Secretary Matt Hancock was awarded contracts worth £50million for test tubes without tender. imageproxy.php?img=&key=bd729091e51e729a

Here they are together:

It has since transpired that these test tubes were being produced on a farm owned by Mr Bourne's father, and they have been reported to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency over non compliance with hygiene standards. Mr Bourne had to have a visit from the fire brigade because he was burning defective test tubes in his back garden. 8 million test tubes were rejected by the NHS. They have not been pleased about The Guardian investigating their relationship:

How far back are we going here? It could take a while.

By now, surely anyone who votes for them knows they're unquestionably the party of sleaze and corruption, yet does so regardless. By this point, it must be part of the attraction.

I'd stick at June 2016 and later

Ah, so no Family Values Major shagging Salmonella Currie, then.

Probably just as well.

I’m sure there are a (very) small number of capable Scottish Tories. Their ranks in general though, consist of privileged halfwits and a tiny cohort of fractious or bewildered working-class forelock-tuggers. I see hypocrite as a byword for Scottish Tory.

Good thread.

I'd like to keep it at the top by bringing up Thatcher's deliberate destruction of communities all over Scotland in the 80's. Working class towns had the hearts ripped out of them as the Tories set out to destroy out shipbuilding, mining, steel working and effectively any industry in Scotland.

We've never really recovered from it.

When the Tories lecture us about what they think is best for Scotland, remember that. And remember that always, always, always, they're utter kqunts.

Just now, Dawson Park Boy said:

‘Let’s get Brexit done’- achieved.

‘Vote SNP for indyref2’- failed

That's a remarkable bar to define "achieved". You're wired to the moon. Please stick to the topic.
