Would there be any appetite for clubs to jump back to the juniors if they feel the pyramid they joined in good faith is now done the toilet?

Or has that ship sailed?

Can't see that happen now everyone is in the pyramid.

Seemingly, Osijek II now appear to be the only reserve in the top 4 tiers this season.

And if I remember right their 2022 World Cup squad had fewer B team representatives than 2018. Which wasn't that significant back then either.

Not really the poster child anymore. Back to doubling down on Spain and the 00s-10s Barca team

Or back to claiming "it works in the Netherlands", despite the fact that after 2014, we missed 2 tournaments and were papped out of Euro 2020 by the first decent team we played (Czech Republic). Ok, we got to the QF in Qatar and took the eventual world champions all the way to penalties, but that makes a grand total of 1 good performance against a strong side in a World Cup / Euro game including qualifiers since 2014 as our run to get to the QF was ridiculously easy.

Plus, people also forget to mention that out of the 34 pro clubs, 22 never even bothered with a B-team in the pyramid, and a few more pulled theirs out as it didn't give the desired effect. Amongst the clubs who never bothered was Feyenoord, who have the 2nd strongest academy in the country behind Ajax. So even the different top academies don't agree with each other on the effect of B-teams.

So yeah, it's a massive success there. 🙃

The Dutch cup once had PSV colts v PSV... Thankfully the colts got removed from the cup, but unfortunately they are still in the league.

In terms of this plan, get it in the bin and put fire to the bin, then kick the burnt out bin far into the deepest part of the ocean that there is no chance of it ever getting back. Absolutely atrocious stuff.

Also there was almost an Ajax v Ajax colts in the final the colts lost the semi final on penalties

Think its a shocking idea and format, not sure how the voting system works but can see L2 teams voting for this as im sure they will be getting more 'guaranteed' money than the current parachute payment if they dropped into this new league as opposed to the HL or LL.

LL teams I assume also would vote for this as geographically the majority of games will still be close and also they currently play against the B teams anyway and again are likely to receive more guaranteed money by playing in the new league.

The outlier is the HL who outwith Brechin this will be a non-starter, unless of course the guaranteed money was attractive enough, again without having the knowledge not sure SFA can make the decision for them if they voted against.

Would there be an automatic promotion for L3/Conference league winner or would there still be a play-off between team 42?

Yeah, back in 2002. Thank f*ck that didn't happen. In Dutch non-league the situation is reversed, B-teams don't play in the league but they play in the cups. So at non-league level, it still occasionally happens that a club play against their own B-team. When I played non-league football in The Netherlands I played in one such game. Trust me, it's a game nobody enjoys...

This conference would be a separate entity from the SPFL so I don't see how that holds water because the league clubs would be promoted into would no longer be the SPFL.

Can’t see it being difficult to set it up so it does count as SPFL in terms of 4 way agreement

Why would they vote for being another tier away from League 2?

A selfie with a OF blazer in the committee room to show all their pals at the golf club and plaster all over their social media?

So it appears the SFA's (and SPFL's) preferred "solution" is to form a new "Conference League" to sit between L2 and the HL/LL.  10 team league, upto 6 B teams (which can't be promoted) and 4 from HL/LL (which can). An independent league.

A complete abomination of an idea.  SPFL clubs don't want B teams in L2, or a new L3.

All Pyramid Leagues have been asked to canvass members of what their preferences are, inc status quo.

That means that only very rarely will there be a relegation/promotion play off for SPFL 2, and the HL and LL teams will be going up and down like yo-yos to their "mother league".

Im not that bothered if youre offended, but the point is, whats the most effective form of protest, starving an organisation of profit, ie boycotting, no fans at Hampden sends a pretty strong message.

And when do you see this happening?

All of the tickets for the games in 2023 are already sold.

The B Teams and joke teams (Cumbernauld, Podcast FC, Caley Braves etc) having their own wee playpen and letting the rest of us get on with it sounds like a half decent proposal tbf. Just should be separate from everything and not part of a pyramid

By all accounts the colts aren't going to give up their quest so if we are going to have to suffer them then why not use the opportunity to fully revamp things.

Make leagues 1 and 2 big enough to have only 1 home and one away then you could incorporate all the teams from the proposed conference and possibly more (not more colts BTW) .

Open up the bottom of league 2 by having an automatic relegation and promotion spot then the play off for 2nd bottom against the losers of the HL/ LL playoff.

One game home and away is quite refreshing . Certainly better than the mundane , here we go again, 4games a season (sometimes more) format.

If it is legally SPFL League 3 then there are no issues with the 4 way agreement, but by all accounts that's a non-starter because of the Leagues One and Two clubs. If it is a separate entity in legal terms from the SPFL because of the need to bypass the need for approval by Leagues One and Two then it isn't the SPFL even if it is being administered by the SPFL in some way.

If there becomes a new barrier to promotion every year? It would have to be on the table.

This stinks.

Get this all so far to f**k. Of all the things about the pyramid that needs - like less play-offs, easier progression, bigger leagues etc. - this is so far down the list of priorities. B teams getting the jump on teams like Talbot, Bo'ness, Linlithgow etc. is a complete piss take of what the pyramid is supposed to do. Fed up with these c***s continuously bending over to what the OF want when it's a detriment to the rest of Scotland - in particular teams below tier 5 who might want to have a shot at making the SPFL.
