VoL guy talking about "if it's a success".

How will this be assessed?

The clubs who voted for it will deem it a success by their bank balance alone, given they've shown they care about nothing else.

Looking forward to the year 2046 when Vale of Leithen vote to admit Pollok Colts to the Lowland League, allowing the division to expand to 51 teams as Vale avoid relegation after finishing with 0 points and a goal difference of -135 the previous year.

Yeah - Vale of Fucking Leithen.

One of the touchstone clubs for the reason why the LL has never been genuinely regarded as comprising the best X non-league side south of the Tay...initially hoisted up from bottom marker status in the old EoS leagues to make up the numbers and only surviving thus far due to lack of promotion/relegation or latterly sheer luck every year due to either one more side being more shite than they are or going bust.

It looked like last season would finally be their year as they amassed a stunning total of no points last season before having their skin saved yet again, this time by a pandemic. Quite what they think they'll gain out of this who knows... virtually no OF fans will travel to them, as they either have no idea where the place is or will more likely turn up at Millburn Park to watch their colts play Vale of Leven.

I can understand them voting for it more than a few others tbh. If they make a couple of quid before their inevitable relegation then I can get it to an extent.

VoL are just a symptom of the wider hypocrisy of the Lowland League which some of us have been calling out for years. Bleating about promotion from tier 5 to tier 6 but maintaining a policy of relegating as few of their own members clubs. "Ventilation" my ass!

Lets say the first colt games are away to The Shire and Bonnyrigg - they'll probably get a good crowd as the local rubberneckers come along but by week 10 when those teams are at VoL and Edinburgh Uni and people have realised that they'll need to shell out £8 to watch a squad of Rangers/Celtic players they've never even heard of (and never will again) then what are the attendances actually going to be like?

By the end of the season I can see these games drawing less of a crowd than a normal LL fixture and hopefully the Dirty 11 all lose money on this.

edit - this is who is on the Celtic website as being in their Under 18 team this season,

Matthew Anderson, Vincent Angelini, Adam Brooks, MacKenzie Carse, Dylan Corr, Bruno Davidson, Frankie Deane, Jaden Ferguson, Tsoanelo Letsosa, Bashir Mahmoud, Tom Martin, Ben McPherson, Joe Morrison, Joseph Murphy, Dane Murray, Ben Quinn, Jude Smith, Ben Summers.

Maybe thats a squad that contains the next Ronaldo and the next Messi but chances are its a group that will be released at the end of their contract and then fall down the leagues.

Let's say OF 1 and 2 finish 1 and 2  next year; will the LL still be putting forward a team for the play offs even though they finish third?  They can feck off.

How are they going to finish 1&2 if they are only playing friendlies?

It will be deemed a success if Rangers and Celtic feel their young players get a benefit out of this and it brings the lads closer to fulfilling their potential.

I've seen absolute outrage and talk of fans boycotting, from supporters of clubs that muster less than 100 people at their games. Some of the new EOS teams, half that.

The tail won't wag the dog.

So no benefit for any other clubs then.

Maybe getting the colts into the LL isn't such a bad idea then - it will get them used to the level they'll be playing at...

It’s a peculiarity of this mentally  diseased country that this is shot down because of bitter hatred, despite the fact that all evidence points to improved player development.

Apparently it can be done in huge countries like Spain and Germany, but not here. Croatia was cited as an example of how it could benefit countries similar to Scotland with around 70% of their World Cup finalists coming through the B team system. An SPFL director rebutted the suggestion saying “Yes, but they’re a successful country”.

This has nothing to do with player development, only with serving the interest of the bigot brothers from Glasgow. There are plenty of issues with the Scottish youth system that need to be looked at in order to improve player development, this isn't a solution in the slightest.

Since the situation has moved on quickly from the first indications last week, can anyone clarify either of the following?

As the Old Firm are supposedly playing non competitively in the LL for one season only, initially, and their points don't count, if Celtic Colts draw with Gretna 2008 , does a point get registered to Gretna?

As there is an allowance for players to move between the Lowland League and the Premiership with a limit of five appearances in the top league, does that give the Old Firm more scope to move squad players around than the other 10 clubs in the Premiership?

Thank you.

1) I believe so.

2) Squad moves can only be made during normal transfer windows is my understanding from the proposal document. Max age is 2002s (u20s) with allowance for one u21 outfielder, one u21 keeper.

These countries also invest in facilities and high quality youth coaching.
