Yeah that’s true. The six months that got him the move to Spurs just came out of absolutely nowhere.

I do think he would have become one of the best in the world at the time had it not been for injury. He broke his leg something like 3 times, and there were injuries that happen after that too (thigh strains mostly) that severely disrupted his momentum. Having him and Robbo/Tierney in the same team would have been incredible.

Aye he could have gotten there with a bit of luck. Still was a very good player for a decent period of time.

The assist was wonderful, that this lad's got something going for him is undeniable.

As has been alluded to though - it's how he copes defensively against strong opposition that will gauge his development and progress as a player.

Right now, would you trust him defensively v Denmark in a must win qualifier at Hampden?

Hypothetically, if we make the play-offs would you trust him against that level of opponent, given his level of experience?

Is he being fast tracked too fast, given his lack of experience at club level?

Agreed.

Agreed.

No.

No.

Necessity is the mother of sometimes fast tracking ( young ) players

Brilliant going forward, shaky at the back. He'll learn though. Assuming the Denmark game is a dead rubber or a must win he has to play the next 2 games

Probably should have played tonight but he might not have been 100%. It's a lot for a youngster to play games of high intensity for 180 if they haven't been playing regularly for their club

Agree with you however- I think the Denmark game he has to play to gauge whether he is ready for the playoffs (assuming we beat Moldova)

I don't care who he ( sometimes ) plays for. He provided the assist !

Good. Unfortunately a lot of folk care more than they should as it’s irrelevant when he wears navy blue.

Only down to his age and the fact the club captain and one of our player of the year last season is in his position

think it says something that even considering these factors he still gives the manager a bit of a headache for that position and most of our fans are comfortable for him stepping into Tavernier’s place when required . Gerrard would love to find a way to have them both playing in the first 11 if he could find a reliable way for it to work and has mentioned it a few times.

Do we know why Tavernier was dropped against Hibs? could he begin to play a little more through the rest of October etc?

I think Clarke is trying to manage him and the squad. He is only 19 and doesn't play a lot of football so to play 2 games in a week might be tough on him. Bringing him on fresh he was able to attack and he put in the cross to win the game. The Faroes were very well organised and we were struggling to break them down in the 1st half, Robertson and Tierney weren't getting much joy, would Patterson have been whipping in goal scoring chances all game if he started?

He showed he can come on late in a game and have a go, another good thing as it is quite difficult to be effective as a sub sometimes.

He is our no.1 right back now but will still need to be managed. Would be good to see him against Denmark as they will really test him defensively.

It was the first incisive cross all night - sublime.
On balance though, he didn't really get a chance to prove his defensive capabilities (the thing most people doubt)

I only caught the highlights and there were three cracking crosses from Fraser. The one for McGinn's header was pinpoint. Probably a better cross than Paterson's assist as the defender could have done better with it. It's not like it was the first cross of the night with any purpose. Just the first one that was finished.
