Logistically difficult anyway - got 4 televised Scottish Cup ties with different broadcasters (BBC + PremierSport). In any case: all they could have done was dump R4 onto Feb 2nd and R5 is Feb 12th.

EDIT: Plus cynically - if you doubt regular crowds will be back immediately, it would actually suit to let Scottish Cup R4 take a 'hit' on Jan 22nd and hope an easing may arrive by Feb 2nd.

Review due tomorrow.

Wales just extended their restriction; and doesn't sound like a full on easing likely here, unless top Scottish government advisor is playing his mood music with the wrong instrument:

Indeed only a few days ago April was considered potentially too soon.

That said it's all the more bizarre if we do prove to have gone from full crowds the week before Christmas, to effectively no crowds, then back to full crowds again in mid January and think that indicates any real logic (both limiting them to just 500 to begin with or immediately returning to 100% now). Figures are actually higher currently than when crowds were stopped last month.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told the Scottish Parliament that the limit of 500 people would be removed from Monday 17 January - which will allow Celtic's match with Hibernian on that day to be played before a full crowd at Celtic Park.

Event organisers will now have to check the vaccine certification of at least 50% of attendees, rather than the current 20%, or at least 1,000 people - whichever figure is higher.

From Monday, the definition of "fully vaccinated" for the purpose of vaccine passports will include having a booster if the second dose was more than four months ago.

And the government will also continue to consider whether the vaccine passport scheme should be extended to more venues.

Inevitable sting-in-the-tail.

Bit mental that a crowd of 999 only need 500 checks, whereas one extra ticket being bought means everyone needs checked, not sure why it's not just 50% (or any other number) across the board.

Not that it'll matter, as I doubt stewards are going to be strictly enforcing it.

I cant find anywhere that says only crowds over 1,000

https://www.gov.scot/news/large-outdoor-events-resume-from-17-january/

‘Organisers of all events with more than 1,000 attendees will be expected to check a minimum of 50% of attendees for certification of vaccination, exemption, or negative test.’

My understanding from the statement yesterday was that they need to check 50% OR 1,000, whichever is higher. Assuming that’s the case, most part-time clubs below the Championship will likely be limiting their capacity to 999.

I see your point but it's need to be cut off somewhere.

Whichever is higher suggests that if you’ve got 1500 then you still need to do 1000 checks

If you’ve got 2200 then you need to do 1100

If you’ve got less than a thousand you need to do everybody

The wording quoted implies the rules only apply to crowds over 1000

What... even non-league games/amateur games/etc.?!

Today's paper: "events of more than 1,000 people are required to check the status of at least 50% of attendees, or at least 1,000 people, whichever is higher".

Implying:

500 = 0 'checks'
900 = 0 'checks'

1,000 = 1,000 'checks''
1,500 = 1,000 'checks'
2,000 = 1,000 'checks'

2,500 = 1,250 'checks'
3,000 = 1,500 'checks
etc.

Are they not scanning the QR code?

They weren't at United v Aberdeen.

Maybe I'm mistaken and they will do but I have only had a visual check at Tannadice.

I genuinely can't remember what happened at the Israel game as I was mortal upon arrival.
