The chip grows larger every day. As @G51 said earlier in the thread, these comparisons are utter bollocks. All cities have good and bad sides, good and bad people. I have heard it said that Washington DC was a boring craphole (usually by New Yorkers) but I know a guy who worked there for a few years and had been told the same - came back and said that although it didnt have the "mega factor" of NY attractions / venues etc it was barry, great wee pubs and loads of small music venues and cracking restaurants. Anyone who - on overhearing you are from city X - tells you its shite and where they live is better/friendlier/less of a dump is usually a bit of a fanny and is to be pitied. Oh, as for that chip? It better have salt n sauce on it or its pish

Highland Capital
Inverness has had bouncers in the city centre McDonald's on a Friday and Saturday night for years. Our police were also armed for a while. #MeanStreets
tarapoa
Aberdeen doesn't seem to feature much here. Locals too busy cleaning their Q7s on the driveway outside their detached mock tudor to bother with nonsense like speaking to strangers.

Sherrif John Bunnell
Helsinki is probably the dullest place I've ever visited. It's like Aberdeen, except pints cost twice as much and the locals speak better English.

We had taken the time off to see the Dons in Europe, but Nistru Otaci away was an expensive logistical challenge - and thanks to work I had the BA miles to get us to Helsinki for next to nothing. Helsinki did at first seem extremely dull, until later on both evenings there we discovered different bars and things went on a somewhat upward trajectory. Very friendly people - like all Nordics, need to break the ice a wee bit a first..........
DiegoDiego
Very friendly people - like all Nordics, need to get them a wee bit drunk first..........FTFY. But seriously I disagree. I've been on supporters buses to away games in Finland. Silent on the way there, great laugh on the way back once everyone was drunk. At the next home game they all acted like strangers again.I played on an amateur team in Finland. It was silent in the changing room before and after practice. They were simply there for the exercise and had zero interest in socialising.I did have Finnish friends but every one of them had either lived abroad at some point or dealt with foreigners through their work. They are very helpful and polite people in general though.

They sound great. Much better than yapping incessantly about shite.
