Stereotypes

Hearts fans are all middle-class and prefer the Six Nations.

Rangers fans are fat.

People who follow Scotland abroad do so because they support wee diddy teams that never qualify for Europe.

At Motherwell we had a spell in the late 00s/early 10s where it seemed like every player we had was called Steven/Stephen/Steve. Then our tendency to bring players back for a second spell, although that ones not really a stereotype.

As for other clubs;

Kilmarnock fans: wee chubby boys and old men with bunnets.

Rangers fans: largely fat and bald and the ones who do have hair look like Roy Cropper from Coronation Street.

Hibs: as already been said have a tendency to bring through talented young players, usually from the Edinburgh/Leith area who grew up supporting them and are complete rockets who’s issues affect their potential. Derek Riordan and Leigh Griffiths are basically the same person.

Hamilton play Rangers every 2nd Sunday and it’s always Live on Sky Sports.

Celtic have a squad of around 2086 players, most of which signed for over £1m from Europe.

Rangers are allergic to signing Scottish players.

Aberdeen have played Ash Taylor and Andy Considine in defence together since the dawn of time.

Livingston are a team of League 1 quality players that have been turned into ballers thanks to David Martindales performance enhancing drugs.

Dundee Utd play with more strikers on the park than passes they string together each game.

Ross County: a Land of the Giants outfit who, on emerging from the tunnel, elicit the inevitable response of "Christ, look at the size of these *****". Prove to be not very good at football, yet almost impossible to beat.

Hamilton Accies: A fine blend of nervous looking youngsters (who you are always surprised to see in the team, as last season they were the sulky Kevin and Perry lads selling match programmes) and mysterious international hit men who arrive in a weird multi buy offer each season. Only 2 of these nomads are any good. Then they all depart, like birds off to a warmer and more welcoming climate. Their bemused expressions on being screamed at by fans to "get fuckin' rid of it" is their lasting legacy.

Every team in the lower leagues have at least one plumber and one sparky on the team sheet.

*Football players are completely incapable of kicking the ball competently with their 'weaker' foot considering that is actually a fairly major aspect of their job.

Every player in the lower leagues are somehow not as fit as full time pros.

*Unfortunately not that much of a stereotype.

All of them actually support either Rangers or Celtic, which comes out just before their team meet one of them in the Scottish Cup 3rd or 4th round.

Another point on Hibs. Their support in general just remind me of Trainspotting, perhaps for obvious reasons, but their fans all seem to be weedy, neddy bampots, a bit like Begbie, or the aforementioned Derek Riordan and Leigh Griffiths. I mean those two have a lot in common; both Edinburgh boys, both Hibs fans, both played for Hibs and Celtic and both despite having a lot of ability as footballers have some questionable off field behaviours that fall way short of professional standards.

Oh aye, and both have a fondness for belting out a certain racist chant about Rudi Skacel in Edinburgh pubs whilst out their faces and being filmed on a mobile phone.

A couple of Hibs finest sons right there, it’s a wonder they weren’t part of the disgraceful scenes of Hibernian driven thuggery on the Hampden pitch on that day in May 2016.

Another stereotype is assuming that all Motherwell fans are just Rangers fans without the bottle to shell out for that 1690 tattoo.

Its a really lazy one and does not have much basis in fact, but like all stereotypes there might occasionally exist a grain of truth......

A few obvious ones - St Mirren fans are over-expectant boo boys who turn on their own players after one misplaced pass. Liverpool fans are humourous good natured Scousers. Newcastle United fans are over-expectant boo boys who think they should be Manchester City standard challengers. Final one, all Ross County, Livingston and Hamilton fans who travel to St Mirren Park are cnuts. All six of them.

I've not been at Easter Road for years now, but I just remember every visit reminding me that Hibs' support was essentially a sea of Burberry baseball caps. Like a uniform.

Airdrie fans are Rangers fans without the bus fare & hold political views that'd make Il Duce blush. The club haven't done many favours to dispel this see the infamous remembrance Sunday program cover & their chairman's yoon essay.

Anyone coming out with that isn't old enough to have ever heard the chant "Come and have a go with the Gorgie Agg-a-ro". All from Wester Hailes or some wee mining village in West Lothian with a skinhead haircut, Doc Martens laced up to the knees and a Red Hand of Ulster draped around their shoulders would have been the stereotype 40 years ago.

Wrong forum for this though?
