Yep, I’ve attended a march in Perth once and the atmosphere was good. It wasn’t unpleasant at all. There were a few folk out of the several thousands that turned up who were dressed up like jacobites or something, but they certainly weren’t being aggressive. There were also plenty of women, kids and tons of dogs.

The march passed by the Union group in town, Mankyjaiket guy and his 30 mates. If there was ever a moment for aggression - this was it, and it didn’t happen. The Unionist lot were met with sarcastic cheers, laughter and waving. And that was it.

In short, the idea that pro independence marchers are a bunch of aggressive, militant wannabe Scottish warriors is a complete myth.

The only aggressive people I've seen at any Indy march have been Mankyjaiket and his wee gang.

The only reason why I think the Scottish Resistance were ever amplified despite being about 5 guys was because they were aggressive and annoying arseholes. The Cyberda contingent are a real thing but given they don't do any activism beyond typing in an affected Scottish accent and shouting the same 4 banal truisms at Cat Boyd or Paul Sweeney it's hard to run scare stories about them (even if they tried!) and get any traction.

You just need to look at the posts on here to see who the aggressive side is. Wishing death on old people and Tories. Woe betide anyone who challenges their Indy aspirations. Very civic and joyous. They are actually that stupid that they believe it’s just sevco supporters and members of the armed forces who vote no.

What short memories we have. The violent aggression and physical criminality of the Unionist rabble in the environs of George Square on the evening of 19th September 2014 simply have no parallel anywhere on the Independence side. Or would you care to provide evidence to contradict this ?

Are we pretending a significant element of unionism isn't just scumbag Rangers supporters?

'Scottish Unionism' and the Unionist (not Conservative) Party that won the majority of the Scottish vote in the 1950s quite literally consisted of staunch Scottish Protestant classes seething about Irish separation. That was the Union referred to in the party's name, because at that point Scottish nationalism was still viewed as a fringe nutter movement and irrelevant to mainstream politics.

Never forget folks that in the supposed Good Old Days before Scotland became embroiled in endless constitutional bickering (trademark Scottish Labour Party, 2014-date), Scotland used to determine its political representation based on the national question of an entirely separate island and people to its own. The most utterly tragic chapter in the long history of this country, without question.

While the foundations of weirdo, staunch Scottish Protestantism have thankfully and hilariously disappeared like snow off a dyke from the 1960s onwards, its cultural legacy lives on in two pale, pathetic shadows of the real thing: psuedo-Loyalism and a psuedo-Glasgow Rangers. The Venn diagram between those two and the Unionist Party of the 1950s is a near perfect circle, except for those who like the original Glasgow Rangers are now dead.

Yes, a pathetic wee bunch spewing verbal abuse as we pass by, they don't even let up when children pass.

What they don't understand is that their vile language and actions strengthen our resolve for Independence.
