The All-Time Scottish Football Hot Potato

Recommended Posts

I thought we could potentially have escaped this ignominy. I remember being at that Dunfermline game, it is only the 2nd game I can remember anything of (1st being a home win over Motherwell that same season). It was the first time I remember associating football with sadness. 16 years later, it has come back to hurt me all over again [emoji17]
The Dunfermline game was horrendous - Soutar had an utter mare in goal.

Potato 26 (2005-06)

Following the longevity of Potato 25, it was perhaps inevitable that Potato 26 would be another one year wonder. Livingston were by some distance the worst team in the division, and indeed one of the worst in top flight history, so it was little surprise that they hogged the potato for most of the season before eventually taking it down with them. Looking at the bigger picture, Hibernian's lead in the all-time table was cut slightly from 51 to 49 as a result of Motherwell having it for three matches to their one. The only other highlight was Inverness Caledonian Thistle becoming the 42nd team to hold the potato.

The opening Saturday of the 2005/06 campaign saw two sides suffering two-goal home defeats, with Kilmarnock losing 4-2 to George Burley's Hearts and Falkirk going down 2-0 to Inverness - that meant another random potato allocation and Falkirk were selected*. The Bairns didn't let that bad luck affect them, and the following week they went down to Almondvale to beat Livingston 2-0. Livi would hold the potato for an dismal 13 match run, suffering eight defeats and drawing five times, before finally beating Dunfermline Athletic 1-0 in November. The Pars then surprisingly offloaded it to Celtic with a 1-0 win at Parkhead, before the Hoops left the potato behind in Aberdeen after a 3-1 win at Pittodrie.

The Dons kept the potato for five matches over Christmas and New Year before eventually defeating Hibernian in January. The following week Hibs beat Dunfermline Athletic at Easter Road and the Pars would draw their next two matches before returning the potato to Livingston. Livi would suffer seven straight defeats before eventually picking up a win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle to hand the Caley Jags their first ever potato. That match was the final game before the split, and Inverness took it into the bottom half with them. Livingston were eight points adrift at the bottom and highly likely to go down, so for the potato it was essentially all about escaping the clutches of the Amber Machine. Inverness ensured their first potato spell lasted just a single match by beating Motherwell 1-0 at Fir Park, and the Steelmen held it for the next couple of games before the potato had it's "this was the one thing we didn't want to happen" moment when they beat Livingston 1-0 at Almondvale. That meant the potato had its last stand at the Falkirk Stadium on the final day, but Daniel McBreen scored the only goal of the game to send the potato down with the Lions.

*In the alternative universe where Kilmarnock had been picked, the potato would have gone via Aberdeen, Rangers, Celtic, Dunfermline, Dundee United, Falkirk and Inverness before ending up with the two timelines merging with Dunfermline in November. Therefore the final outcome of the potato would have been unchanged, but we would have completely missed out Livingston's first 13 game potato run.

I feared that would be the case, we went on a few horrible runs that season. Terrible collection of players including Ludovic Roy, Greg Strong and Harald Pinxten. That said, some rough diamonds in the squad - Wes Hoolahan, Robert Snodgrass and Graham Dorrans.

Glad to know I've now been at matches for the last 2 potatoes.

There was a weird happening before that game. Some arsehole Edinburgh journalist had predicted that newly promoted Falkirk would be relegated.

When we guaranteed safety, it meant he agreed to come to the stadium on the last day to be put in the stocks and "hilariously" hit by wet sponges by Yogi.

He wass a very decent keeper  but it's more the fact that he wasn't Craig Samsung that inspired the name at the time!

Now that's a horrific keeper.

Potato 27 (2006-07)

Potato 27 would also have a short but eventful existence - it may only have lasted a year, but it managed to change hands 14 times and only had two spells longer than four matches, both of them with the same club. Ultimately it disappeared in the possession of a club who had occupied the bottom spot in the league for almost the entire season. In the all-time potato table, Hibernian passed the magical 250 game mark, but their overall lead was cut from 49 to 42 matches, with St Mirren climbing back into second place after a potato-laden year.

The opening Saturday of the 2006/07 saw Kilmarnock take the potato courtesy of a 4-1 defeat at Celtic Park, but they immediately passed it on to Hibernian with a 2-1 win at Rugby Park. Hibs drew with Inverness before beating Motherwell 3-1 at Easter Road, then the Steelmen immediately beat Falkirk 1-0 in Grangemouth. The Bairns suffered defeats to Rangers and Aberdeen before sending it back to Hibernian with a 1-0 win at Easter Road, and this time Hibs would take three attempts to get rid of it, eventually beating Dunfermline Athletic 4-0 at East End Park. The Pars had the potato for four games which ended with a 2-1 win over Dundee United, who immediately beat St Mirren the following week.

This would be the first of two quickfire spells with the potato for Saints - this one was five games, and then next would be much longer. Their first run ended with a 1-0 win over Falkirk on Boxing Day, the Bairns would then beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle next time out, and the Caley Jags returned it to St Mirren on New Year's Day. Saints were second bottom at this point, nine points clear of Dunfermline, but that would be cut to a single point as a result of an 11 game winless potato streak, picking up four draws and seven defeats. The Buddies would finally end the slide with a 2-0 win away to Falkirk in the first post-split fixture - the Bairns were already safe and therefore the potato was hoping they might down tools for the rest of the season, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. After a 3-3 draw away to Motherwell they beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 at home, and the worst happened when the Caley Jags came from behind to beat Dunfermline Athletic 2-1 at East End Park, thanks to an 89th minute winner from Rory McAllister. That result relegated Dunfermline, meaning the potato's only hope was a last day victory at home to Falkirk - unfortunately, the Bairns ran out comfortable 3-0 winners to ensure Potato 27 joined Potato 5 in the Pars' trophy room.

He wass a very decent keeper  but it's more the fact that he wasn't Craig Samsung that inspired the name at the time!

Now that's a horrific keeper.

Have to agree that Craig Samson is worse though.

Potato 28 (2007-09)

Potato 28 avoided the fate of its two predecessors by surviving past the first season, but unfortunately it couldn't make it beyond the second. Again it was a fairly mobile potato, changing hands 28 times across the two years and visiting 11 different clubs. In the end, we had the extremely unusual scenario of the potato going down with a club who hadn't held it at all until the full-time whistle blew on the final day of the season. There was little change on the all-time table, with Hibernian's lead nudging up from 42 to 43 matches

The opening Saturday of the 2007/08 season saw new boys Gretna on the end of a 4-0 pumping from Falkirk at Fir Park, a game most notable for Rowan Alexander trying to turn up to take the team despite being suspended by the club. It took Gretna six attempts to get rid of the potato, they finally managed it with a 3-2 "home" win over Dundee United, who soon sent it back to Fir Park by beating Motherwell. The Steelmen beat Hibernian next time out, and Hibs held it for three matches before beating Gretna at Fir Park. Gretna held it for another four matches before picking up their second win of the season - like the first it came against Dundee United, this time at Tannadice. United soon beat Heart of Midlothian, who then passed it on to Hibernian with a 1-0 derby win at Tynecastle, and Hibs soon passed it back to Gretna for a third spell. Gretna passed it to Kilmarnock in a 4-2 win at Fir Park, a game that is infamous amongst the Killie support for us being 4-0 down to them and Billy Brown doing a demonstrative half-time team talk on the pitch. Killie bounced back from that embarrassment by beating St Mirren a few days later, and after two draws Saints sent it back to Gretna yet again.

By this point, Gretna were in administration, doomed to relegation and sometimes playing future Spurs full-back Kyle Naughton as a centre-forward. With just seven games remaining of the season, the potato looked very likely to disappear into oblivion with Brooks Mileson's plaything. Only 431 people showed up for their first potato defence, a 2-1 loss at home to Inverness, and they would then draw three games in a row before going up to Inverness and taking a 6-1 skelping. A 0-0 draw in Paisley followed, meaning the fate of the potato rested on the final game of the season, and indeed Gretna's final game ever, against Hearts at Fir Park. With the match level at 0-0 heading into the final minute it seemed to be game over for the potato, but Gavin Skelton popped up with a fairytale winner to keep the potato alive with Heart of Midlothian over the summer.

The Jam Tarts beat Motherwell 3-2 on the opening day of the 2008/09 season, then after two failed defences the Steelmen sent it back to Edinburgh with an away win over Hibernian. Hibs immediately beat Dundee United, who swiftly passed it on to Aberdeen, before the Dons got rid of it to Falkirk at the third attempt. The Bairns left it behind with Kilmarnock after a win at Rugby Park the following week, and Killie suffered three straight defeats before a 2-0 win over Dundee United. At the second attempt, the Terrors passed it on to St Mirren, who immediately returned the potato to Falkirk. The Bairns had a dismal seven match potato streak over Christmas and New Year before they were eventually able to beat Aberdeen at the end of January.

The Dons then managed to hold the potato for five matches whilst simultaneously taking on Bayern Munich in the knockout stages of European competition - they suffered a loss to Hearts then drew with Dundee United, Killie and St Mirren before finally beating Hamilton Academical in March with four games left until the split. In Accies drew two and lost two of those fixtures, thus taking the potato into the bottom six. At this stage, six points separated the bottom five clubs, with Killie, St Mirren and Accies all on 34, Inverness on 32 and Falkirk on 28. Accies shook off the potato and took a step towards safety by beating Kilmarnock 2-1 at New Douglas Park in the first post-split fixture. Killie then drew at home to Falkirk, before beating St Mirren 2-1, a result which left Saints bottom with two games to go.

Heading into the final two fixtures, three points separated the bottom three - Inverness had 37, Falkirk had 35 and Saints had 34. St Mirren's penultimate match was away to Falkirk - the Bairns knew a win would guarantee safety, and Saints knew defeat could send them down depending on how Inverness got on in Kilmarnock. However, St Mirren ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Billy Mehmet and Andy Dorman, giving Falkirk the potato and bottom spot in the division. Meanwhile in Ayrshire, Killie beat Inverness 1-0, meaning leaving the Caley Jags still at risk of the drop themselves. Unfortunately for the potato, the relegation spot would be decided in a final day showdown between Falkirk and Inverness. The only way Falkirk could stay up was with a win, but if they did win (and pass on the potato) then Inverness would go down unless St Mirren lost by three or more goals at home to Hamilton. Hamilton hadn't scored three in a game since the opening day of the season, so the potato's chances didn't look great. Ultimately, Accies did win, but only 1-0, so the only question left to be answered at the Caley Stadium was which club would take the potato down with them. The match swung in Falkirk's favour when Ross Tokely was sent off just before half-time, and Michael Higdon scored the only goal of the game in the 68th minute to send the potato down with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Potato 29 (2009-14)

The early 2010s was of the most tumultuous periods in Scottish football history, most notable for an acrimonious legal battle involving contract disputes and unpaid bills from one of Scottish football's oldest institutions. But enough about Craig Brown's departure from Motherwell, we're here to talk about Potato 29 and its five year reign of terror. This potato started off in the SPL, but finished in the Scottish Premiership, and in the process we witnessed our 44th and (as of right now) final potato holding club, Ross County. This was a wretched period in the history of Hibernian FC, and it was therefore perhaps no surprise that they extended their lead at the top of the all-time table to 50 matches. However, it would also kickstart a (relatively) lengthy spell out of the division which might give some others a chance to catch up.

The 2009/10 season started off with Hamilton Academical losing 3-0 at Rugby Park and Falkirk going down 4-1 at Ibrox, with the random draw handing the potato to Accies. This random allocation was crucial to the potato's longevity - had it gone to Falkirk on the opening day then it would have gone around the houses a bit before being going down with Falkirk at the end of the season. In the actual timeline of our potato, St Mirren became the first team to hold it for a lengthy period - they had it for seven games from October to January, before passing it to Kilmarnock who had it for five games before they beat Celtic in Robbie Keane's debut. It subsequently ended up with Aberdeen for five games and St Mirren for four, before ending up with Kilmarnock with just three games left in the season. Killie lost to St Johnstone to leave them level on points with Falkirk at the bottom of the table and only two goals better off on GD. Fortunately Killie came from behind to win 2-1 at Pittodrie and leave the potato in the safety of Aberdeen.

Hibernian hogged the potato in the 2010/11 season - they had it for five matches from August to October, took it back for one game in November (before passing it on with the least remembered of their three 3-0 wins at Ibrox in that era) and then had it again for seven games from Boxing Day to February. It would go on to spend five games with a doomed looking Hamilton Accies before they passed it to Hibs in the final pre-split match. Hibs were in the bottom six so there was still a risk of the potato going down, but fortunately the selfless Hibees averted this picking up one draw and four defeats in their final five fixtures. They also lost their opening game of 2011/12 before passing it on to Inverness for four games. It would soon find its way to Dunfermline Athletic for seven games from September to October, before returning to Hibs for a horrendous eight game run from November through to January. Notably, it would find its way to Killie for a brief spell in January, only for them to offload to Rangers with a memorable 1-0 win at Ibrox in the first post-administration game. The potato would eventually be taken into the top six by Dundee United - but unlike most seasons that didn't absolutely guarantee its safety with the possibility of Rangers disappearing from the division. St Johnstone took the potato in the first post-split game and lost their next three to set up a potential potato-killer match with Rangers at McDiarmid Park. Fortunately for the spud, the visitors won 4-0 to ensure the potato stayed in Perth for the summer.

Saints would fail to win any of their first five games in 2012/13 to take the total length of their spell to 10 matches, but they did eventually pass it on to Celtic. The Hoops quickly gave it to Dundee for five matches, but that would just be a warm-up for the Dees, who would then have a 14 game spell which took them from November through to March. They finally offloaded it to St Mirren, just over a week before Saints won the League Cup, and the hangover from that success would lead to potato staying in Paisley for nine matches before they finally passed it on to Killie on the final day of the season.

That summer, the SPL merged with the SFL to form the SPFL, and Killie failed to win any of their first nine Premiership matches as Allan Johnston started as he meant to go on in the job. Killie eventually got their first win in October, passing the potato on to Ross County for the first ever time. The Staggies decided to savour their new status as potato holders - they kept it for nine games before giving it to Inverness in a Highland Derby on New Year's Day. The potato subsequently had brief spells with Aberdeen, St Mirren and Killie before ending up with a Hearts side saddled with transfer embargo and points deduction. Their relegation was inevitable, and Hibs had the chance to seal it at Tynecastle at the end of March, a fixture which their fans therefore turned into a relegation party. However, Hearts turned into party poopers, winning 2-0 to send the potato across the city, a result which surely boosted the potato's chances of survival.

Hibs were six points clear of the newly introduced relegation play-off spot with six games to go - a win over Aberdeen in the final pre-split game would have sent the potato into the safety of the top six, but sadly they lost 2-0 to take it into the bottom half. A defeat to St Mirren was followed by another defeat against Hearts, and although Hibs were still in 8th place in the table, they were now just a point ahead of Kilmarnock in 11th with three games to go. A draw with Partick Thistle at Easter Road followed, which meant that with two matches remaining there were four sides separated by two points - Hibs and Thistle were on 35, Ross County were on 34 and Killie were on 33. Hibs travelled to Dingwall on the Tuesday night, and a 1-0 County win left them and the potato sweating on the results the following evening. Those results did not go well, with Killie beating St Mirren and Partick Thistle beating Hearts.

That left the Hibees in 11th place, a point behind Killie, with the sides facing each other at Easter Road on the final day. The potato was doomed to 11th place - only a victory would save Hibs, and of course if they did win the potato would go into the play-off with Killie. The TV cameras were locked out of Easter Road, perhaps because the Hibs board knew what was coming - a Kris Boyd goal condemned the Hibees to 11th place. That wasn't necessarily it for the potato though - for the first time ever, the fate of the potato would be determined by the outcome of a non-potato match. Hibs would face Hamilton Academical in the Premiership play-off final, and if they won that they would keep the potato in the Premiership. It seemed to be plain sailing for the potato when Hibs won 2-0 at New Douglas Park thanks to a Jason Cummings double, but of course you know the rest. Jason Scotland, Tony Andreu, penalties, Kevin Thomson, Jason Cummings, Kevin Cuthbert, Grant Stott, that boy angrily waving his season ticket, bye bye Hibs, bye bye Potato 29.

Absolutely love these. I may be offering you more maths but surely the real figure that matters is games with potato : games in the top league ratio. A team consistent in the top league (that allow you to actually grab said potato) over a yo-yo mob or new money came from nowhere like Partick or Ross County, will have much worse stats with this not considered.

Potato 30 (2014-18)

The 2010s will henceforth be known as the decade of the long potatoes - Potato 29's five year run was followed up by four years of Potato 30. This potato changed hands exactly 50 times, visiting 13 clubs before finishing up in a brand new resting place. Hibs' lead at the top of the all-time table was cut slightly from 50 to 46 matches, but with just three and a bit years left until the present day it's starting to look unlikely that anyone will overhaul them.

The first day of the 2014/15 season featured just three matches, and the biggest losers on the day were Hamilton Accies, who went down 2-0 to Inverness at New Douglas Park. The potato would go on to have runs of four matches with St Mirren, Motherwell and Kilmarnock in the first half of the season, before turning up as Motherwell's first footers on New Year's Day 2015 courtesy of a 5-0 Lanarkshire Derby pumping from Hamilton. The Steelmen would hold the potato for eight games, seven of them defeats, before finally beating Inverness in February. The Caley Jags would have a seven game spell of their own, a run which was particularly surprising given that they would go finish 3rd in the table and win the Scottish Cup that year. That run of games crucially took the potato into the top six, ensuring it survived the season, and it would eventually end up in the hands of Dundee over the summer.

Dundee thumped Killie 4-0 at Rugby Park on the opening day of 2015/16 to set off Killie on a six-game run which included another 4-0 home defeat, this time to Ross County. They would eventually win 2-1 at Tannadice, after which Dundee United held the potato for six games. After changing hands a couple more times, the potato ended up with Hamilton Accies in mid-December, and they would hold it through to the end of January, a seven game run which included a 4-3 defeat to Inverness, a 3-3 draw with Motherwell and an 8-1 tanking from Celtic. After more moving and shaking, the potato returned to Kilmarnock at the end of February, and they held the potato for five matches before managing to offload it to St Johnstone with a 3-0 home win in the final game before the split. As with the previous year, this took the potato into the top six and ensured its safety - this time it would spend the summer with Aberdeen.

After two 0-0 draws at the start of 2016/17, the Dons defeated Partick Thistle 2-1 to send the potato down to Glasgow, and the Jags would hold the potato for eight games before beating Dundee. The Dees would immediately send it to Hamilton Accies, and they would embark on an epic 12 match run taking them through from late October until the end of January. After short spells with Inverness, Rangers and St Johnstone, the potato would move on to Dundee, who would lose six games in a row to carry the potato into the bottom six. At the split, the Dees were second bottom - five clear of bottom club Inverness, and two behind Hamilton and Motherwell. Their first post-split fixture was against the Steelmen, and the Dees won 3-2 at Fir Park to pass the potato to Motherwell, who dropped into the play-off spot on goal difference from Accies.

Motherwell would also lose 1-0 to Ross County in their next fixture, but in their next match they would pass the potato on to Hamilton Accies, who were now three behind with two games remaining. Hamilton lost a last minute goal in a 3-2 defeat to Ross County, a result which guaranteed them a bottom two spot, and even more worringly leave them just a point ahead of Inverness at the bottom. Accies hosted Dundee, while Inverness faced Motherwell, and all three options were still on the cards for the potato - an Accies win would keep it safe for another season, a draw/defeat coupled with Inverness failing to win would send it to the play-off, and a draw/defeat combined with an Inverness win would send it down. Inverness won their fixture 3-2, which meant it was win or bust for the potato, but fortunately Hamilton ran out emphatic 4-0 winners to ensure the potato spent the summer in the safety of Dens Park.

The Dees failed to win any of their opening five matches of 2017/18, but were finally able to pass it on to St Johnstone, who immediately sent it to Hamilton Accies for a five-game spell. The potato would then change hands nine times in the next 17 matches over the autumn and winter before ending up in the arms of Partick Thistle in mid-February. The Jags would take the potato into the bottom six courtesy of a run of seven without a win - at the split they were bottom, a point behind Ross County and five behind Dundee and Hamilton. A win over Accies in the first bottom six fixture moved Thistle off the bottom and sucked the now potato-carrying Hamilton into danger. Accies averted that danger for themselves, but not the potato, by beating bottom club Ross County the following week, leaving the Staggies two points adrift with three games to save themselves and the potato.

A stoppage time equaliser from Chris Burke (remember when he played for them?!) secured a draw with Thistle the following week, but a defeat to Dundee followed, leaving them still two behind at the bottom heading into the final game. The only way the Staggies and the potato could survive was by beating St Johnstone - anything else would send them down to the Championship. The match got off to the best possible start, with Craig Curran scoring after three minutes, meaning both were safe as it stood. A Kris Doolan goal for Thistle just after the hour mark meant that the Staggies were starting down the barrel of relegation, but the future of the potato still looked to be secure heading into stoppage time. Unfortunately, Canadian wing wonder David Wotherspoon scored a goal with basically the last kick of the game to condemn the potato to spend eternity in Dingwall.

I can exclusively reveal that Potato 31 is STILL ALIVE, and in the hands of Ross County, who will defend it today against Livingston. Full details on the progression of this potato will follow this evening (probably) after the game.

Potato 31 (2018-?)

In the words of Noel Gallagher, "There we were, now here we are" (very heartfelt and meaningful, I'm sure you'll agree). Over 130 years worth of potato history condensed into one six-page Pie & Bovril thread, and we've finally caught up with the present day. Potato 31 had to deal with a lot - an early termination of the season with, as every Hearts fan will tell us, eight games to go, an entire season behind closed doors and Dave Cormack being involved in Scottish football. It has so far survived through to a fourth season, and has changed hands 36 times so far. In the all-time table, Hibs' lead has been cut to 34 matches as a result of them only having this potato for two matches compared to St Mirren's 14. This officially confirms that Hibernian are currently the biggest losers in Scottish top flight history.

The 2018/19 season started with Hamilton Academical losing 4-1 at home to Hearts to be the first recipients of the potato. They immediately beat Motherwell, but after brief spells with the Steelmen and Dundee it returned to Accies for five matches in the autumn. The next long-term holders were St Mirren, who acquired it on Boxing Day and had an eight game spell consisting of six defeats and two draws, which took them through to March. With eight matches remaining in the season, the potato found its way to bottom club Dundee, and it looked to be in real danger when they suffered six straight defeats, confirming their relegation in the process. Fortunately, 39 year-old Kenny Miller, whose career spanned eight potatoes, gave them a 1-0 win away to Livingston, and Livi would also lose their next game to keep the potato over the summer.

Livi held the potato for the first two games of 2019/20, followed by short spells with Ross County, St Mirren and St Johnstone, before it ended up with Hamilton Academical in October. Accies held the potato for nine matches before passing it on to Hearts just before Christmas, a result which saw Accies move above Hearts at the foot of the table. After a loss to Hibs and two draws, Hearts passed the potato on to Rangers in January, just as news was starting to circulate about a potential deadly virus in China. Fortunately as it would turn out, Hearts didn't get the potato back, which meant it avoided the ignominy of its fate being decided via dodgy emails, votes and a courtroom battle. Instead, the potato found its way to Ross County in March before Scottish football ground to a halt.

When the league finally started back up for the 2020/21 season, County immediately beat Motherwell on the opening day, the first of a six-game winless run for the Steelmen at the start of the campaign. They finally recorded a win against St Johnstone in September, the Saints' run of four straight defeats suggested there might a very difficult season ahead for Callum Davidson's side, but they did finally beat Hamilton Accies 5-3 at New Douglas Park to offload the potato. Accies had it for five games, including an 8-0 defeat at Ibrox, before beating Kilmarnock, and Killie also had it for five games before beating Motherwell just after Christmas. The Steelmen became the third consecutive team to have a five-game run. It jumped around a little more after that, before ending up with Ross County in March. The Staggies had three defeats and a draw as they slumped into the play-off place with just three matches remaining. Fortunately for the potato, however, they picked up a 2-0 win at Tannadice the following week, and a safe Dundee United held the potato until the end of the season.

Dundee United started 2021/22 with a defeat at Pittodrie, but followed that up by ending Rangers' long unbeaten record with a 1-0 win at Tannadice. Rangers only held the potato for one game - they beat Ross County 4-2 in Dingwall in the following match to leave the Staggies holding the potato. The potato hasn't changed hands since - Ross County have still not won a game this season, and their current potato streak stands at eight matches. Yesterday's match between County and Livingston was the 4263rd potato match so far, and at the current rate we will hit the 5000 mark sometime in early 2041.

This thread will continue to track the process of the potato until either I or Pie & Bovril shuttle off this mortal coil - updating the holders after each result, and providing a more detailed update at the end of every season.
