Free Agency 2021

Casey Heyward cut.

He was as good as any CB in the league his first four years a s a Charger, but his legs have gone and his smarts are no longer enough for him to keep up with anything but slow possession types. Wasn't really a viable outside starter going into 2021, so this is no surprise at all. I think this makes re-signing Mike Davis more important, and it's clear LAC really has to do something about the other starting outside CB spot in either Free Agency or the draft.

Mahomes could be running for his life for 17 regular weeks.  Both tackles, Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz released...

Schwartz missed most of 2020. Fisher wasn't going to be ready for 2021 anyway (despite what other reports were saying) with a torn achilles. As @G51 noted, both are over 30 and were going to be decent cap hits, so this makes sense. But you are accurate in that the Chiefs need oline help and a fair amount of it.

Five year, $27 million deal for Kyle Juszczyk to remain in Santa Clara. A LOT of money for a FB and his numbers aren't much to write home about but he offers so much for Shanahan's offence that it was pretty key to get him signed up. The contract numbers haven't been crunched but it seems just £10 million is guaranteed with half of that covered this season. Niners still keen to get Williams and Verrett signed up.

One year, $5.5 million deal for Verrett sealed.

When healthy he's been a superb shutdown CB for SF so here's hoping they can get another good year from him before he tries for one last big pay day.

Just Trent Williams to go with the Niners allegedly willing to offer him up to $20 million a year to sign.

I'd like to see Kendrick Bourne signed up as well but there seems to be no news on that front. Jets are being linked however and they could probably offer more than the Niners can. K'Waun Williams also being linked with Saleh's new side.

Lions stuff:

TE Jesse James is being released. Saves $2.14 million or $5 million with a June 1st designation.

Lions have added TE Josh Hill last with the Saints.

DE Romeo Okwara has re-signed on a 3 year deal worth $39 million with incentives.

WR Jamal Agnew is off to the Jags on a three year deal worth $21 million with incentives. Lions will need to look for a punt returner.

LB Jarrad Davis is joining the Jets on a one year deal worth $7 million.

OL Joe Dahl is being released. Saves $2.9 million in space.

LB/Special teamer Jalen Reeves-Maybin is re-resigning on a one year deal valued at $2,378,490 fully guaranteed.

Joe Thuney to the Chiefs a fairly big move as KC fill a hole on the OL

Bills have focused on bringing back the same team as last year really, resigning OLs Jon Feliciano and Daryl Williams and restructuring DLs Vernon Butler and Mario Addison to mae more cap room. Think 19 of the 22 starters from the AFC Championship game are under contract plus Cody Ford will be back on the OL.

Pro Bowl WR (in reality special teams KR) Andre Roberts has gone to Houston though, he's good but with the cap crunch this year a specialist returner probably quite low down the list.

Definitely one of those players where the stats don't tell you the whole story. Vital part of the offense imo.

Yep, good to see Verrett back again. Agree with you on Bourne, we've had lots of relative short arse WRs in the last few years, be good to keep one with more reach.

According to Ian Rapoport the 49ers have restructured Dee Ford's deal into a 2 year $24m dollar contract.

Tom Pelissero reports that OLB Samson Ebukam will move from the Rams on a 2 year $12m deal which could rise to $13.5m with incentives. He had 31 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season.

Good. Will need to see the numbers but the OG contract for Ford was horrendous in hindsight.

A good edge rusher on the opposite side of Bosa was a need for the team especially after letting Hyder walk.  He actually outperformed Hyder in some metrics last season. Ford isn't able to stay healthy despite his good numbers when he has played so this seems a decent move on the face of it.

Bourne rumoured to be talking to the Patriots. Sanders to return for WR3?
