We'll cover it with all the money we'll receive from Nisbet getting sold on.

Maybe Rovers could do the same and we can compare.

So Hibs turn down Nisbet money meaning your getting nowt just now and then give us Jamie Gullan back to  add to out array of strikers 😉 Good old HIBS GIRUY

And we can use the notes we are due to the "wee team" from the development fee to further cover the goalmouth areas to ensure this game goes ahead.........

That Nisbet to Birmingham story has to have been rubbish. There's surely no way on earth Hibs would've turned down £3 million for him. He's gone right off the boil over the last few weeks to the point he got dropped at the weekend.

Hibs would probably be delighted if someone offered anywhere close to £1 million for him.

He never got dropped at the weekend because of his form

There were rumours circulating about Porteous going to Millwall for £1M and Nisbet for £2M so both players got dropped to the bench which is obviously the right thing to do.

Crikey. If the day comes where the likes of Porteous and Nisbet are going for that sort of money it'll be a sad day for football.

Birmingham spent £2m on Cosgrove so not entirely unreasonable - still much cheaper than they would pay for players from other English teams.

Why so, especially for Nisbet? Goalscorers are always worth money. £2M is a bargain for Nisbet given he still has a quite a bit of his contract to go as well.

Two Million is f**k all to an English team. Especially for a goalscorer. If he gets himself into the Scotland squad and does well at international level, his value will rocket.

Anyway, back on to tomorrow night’s game. Is it likely to be on?

Of course not, we'll do our best to get it postponed.

Nisbet is a good striker at a good age who should only improve at the right club. Since he signed on for the Rovers he's improved year on year.

Raith fans' absolute desperation to see him fail just because he might net us a few quid seems a bit petty, it's your own boards' fault you are the losers in this guys' career progression.

Not even really the Board's fault, just bad luck. No-one in their right mind would have given Nisbet more than a one year contract when he initially signed and the only way he would sign the extension would be that he wouldn't need to stay in League 1 if we did - the only way he could have stayed would have been with promotion that we couldn't achieve.

This tbh.  He did a good turn for us, he deserved his move and I hope he does well in his career.  Dunfermline earning a few quid off the back of it is irrelevant tbh, good on them.

In the end, his goals masked the fact that the squad that season was largely terrible.  Losing Nisbet forced Mcglynn to completely change up the squad and the mentality behind them.  If we didn't lose Nisbet, we likely wouldnt have had to fastrack Bowie - which in the end gave the club a tidy sum.

Losing Nisbet was a blow, but like losing the league to Ayr, it was part of a process that eventually forced Mcglynn's hand into rebuilding the playing side of the club from scratch.  And we have been reaping the rewards ever since.  We've had to take a few steps back to take a step forward, certainly no bitterness here.

I feel similar about Murray.  He has done well for Dunfermline and I don't doubt will continue to do so, however again it forced our hand to re-jig the defence and bring in Mcdonald at left back, and Steven Anderson at centre half - and we saw Benedictus and Davidson significantly up their game from then on in.  We defended much better - not to say Murray was poor or the reason why we defended poorly, but an enforced change actually forced a change of thinking in the right direction.

Well, no. I hope he goes on to have a great career. Pars fans seem desperate to turn it into one over us regarding his contract status, but it's not like Dunfermline, or anyone else in the second tier, was lining up to sign him, let alone sign him on a watertight two year deal.

He signed for us because he'd been released by Thistle after two very unimpressive loan spells at Ayr and Dumbarton that included a miss at Starks for Ayr that is actually worse than Jason Cummings for Hibs, and a penalty miss at Dumbarton that achieved escape velocity.

We didn't sign him because Barry Smith has some hitherto hidden eye for a player. He was desperate, and we were last chance saloon. Smith cobbled a squad together that was mostly shite and chancers and got lucky with Nisbet.

No one would have been happy had we signed him on a two year deal. We did the best we could to tie him down on a two year when his form picked up and at least committed him to first refusal if we went up. We didn't and he was free to go. Not much more the board could have done.

I'm glad that Smith and McGlynn were able to help turn around the guy's career and put him on the path he is on now. That Dunfermline will make money out of it is neither here nor there.

I said at the time Nisbet deserved his move to a bigger team when he joined the Pars.

He admitted himself when he signed for us that he had to change his outlook for the betterment of his career and look what's happened,he got a move from Dunfermline to Hibs and is now gathering interest from England. Just shows what hard work can achieve.

The only thing that has disappointed me about Nisbet rise in stature is that he has been overlooked for the national team where I'd have liked to have seen him given a chance.
