As expected this was a very tough encounter and I was in a bit of difficulty about midway through the game. I thought I'd clawed back a winning position after making a very early blunder, but the tide turned again late in the game when I lost the pawn promotion race. I thought I did a half decent job of some dogged defence until the inevitable collapse came but stuck at it just in case I managed to fluke another stalemate - no such luck. Fairly even until mid-game, where I had to sacrifice a knight to prevent pawn promotion. The extra piece made the difference and coupled with an unforced error in the latter stages of the game sealed the deal for my opponent.
