My tactic from move 30 was to try and bore him into a draw. Bit annoyed with an early queen exchange which was just lazy play as I didn't bother looking at other Kimg options and I think there was more joy there. I think I got away with one there.I felt the entire game was quite tight untill I blundered a rook/queen fork and left you a rook up. Aim Here Posted June 17, 2022 Share Posted June 17, 2022 (edited) Madwullie Cup Round 1 It seems to be a pattern with my games with gkneil that he gets some good attacking chances but I somehow come out ahead. I was leading here in material and initiative, but lax enough with my king safety that it ended up being bounced across the board with a scary knight/queen combo and some forced moves, but when that attack ran out of steam without me blundering natural moves that lead to mate or a devious fork (I could see both on the horizon), it was more or less over. Playing gkneil feels like that IRA statement about 'we have to be lucky once, you have to be lucky always'. His day will come! I managed to take Craig's queen, but it cost me a rook plus a knight so it only seemed like a marginal benefit at the time.
