DeeTillEhDeh
Apologies for the delay in updating - but arab_joe defeated NotThePars - it was a race to see who could get a pawn upgraded quicker, and I won out. Good game. My other game is ongoing... (although I'm down to 3 pieces and circling the drain). And our Round 13 game has just started as well - you'll be busy!![emoji4]
craigkillie
19 hours ago, DiegoDiego said: P&B Premiership, Round 7: DiegoDiegoPB defeats Purplekangaroo89. That game took months off my life. The first dozen or so moves were blitzed out and I managed to really hack away at Kanga's pawn structure. After that it was a pretty stressful grind. A few times I thought I'd dealt a killer blow but The 'Roo defended very well indeed. I chipped away and worked up a decent advantage so when PK got a bit of his own back as pieces were traded towards the endgame I was left with connected pawn majorities on both sides and it was impossible for his king to defend both. A really gruelling game for the most part. I've definitely earnt this beer. Tough for Purplekangaroo after putting in a great performance, I imagine I'd lose against him more often than not going by our two games. This was a really good game. I got tied up in knots a bit in the opening but then found some counterplay, but you managed to defend that perfectly to get that winning end game. The analysis said I only made two mistakes in the whole game, so I'm not exactly beating myself up about the defeat.
Ludo*1
A draw with @madwullie. I've been a bit of a draw specialist of late. Or at least it feels that way. There were lot's of pieces of the boar and we traded down. Wullie offered a draw about 6-7 moves before I agreed as I was hoping he'd make a slip of some sort with @DiegoDiego starting to breath down my neck, but no such luck.

Got to be happy with that considering my bruised and broken arsehole after the first fixture. But of a weird game the way your King was boldly out in the second row, and I think I might even have been able to trap you had you not been so keen to trade pieces. By the time we were down to a rook and pawns each, I was only ever going to shit fest it - like I say, mainly because you destroyed me in the first match. Good game mate

true_rover
Completed the double over Dandies1983 by resignation.Turning point was a knight swap that left the other knight exposed. That advantage allowed me to trade my way towards the end, removing his second rook being the final straw to trigger the resignation.
Gordon EF
League B round 14 GordonEF beats Dandies1983 by resignation A nice open game. Tried out the Queen's Gambit (declined) opening for the first time. The opening saw a lot of pieces congregate in the middle of the board and it had the feel of a game that was going to hang on a few moves. A couple of mistakes by Frank Grimes swung the game a bit too far in my favour. Allowing my e pawn to fork the knight and bishop and then letting me get out of the Queen exchange a knight up.
invergowrie arab
@eindhovendee humps Invergowrie Arab. Well played mate was never in it. The lads are focussed on the relegation 6 pointer with Stellaboz. Nobody wants to be playing chess in Wick next year

That was probably my weakest game recently - 4 mistakes - one because I forgot the castling rules for 960 - that being said it still gave me a lead in terms of pieces so was not completely disastrous. I got lucky later in that he went for the trade for the Queens - from that point I had the game - if he had not swapped off there was a good chance of either a much longer endgame or potentially stalemate. Board set up was tough as well with the Queens stuck in the corner and Rooks either side of the King. I didn't enjoy that at all. I was at work when I started which was why it was a bit stop/start but no excuses, I am not cut out for the 960 and most likely won't take part in the next. I have got back into normal chess and don't think this suits me, you always seemed to have the upper hand and you might not have felt it but I knew you were winning after about 5 moves. Good luck in the final.

Had I known the magnitude of this at the time the celebrations would have lasted a week. I can only surmise he was on ketamine at the time. You played very well that day. I had a few wines, I may try ketamine next time.

DeeTillEhDeh
Elrohana beats arabjoe - resignation.A tight battle - I had an early edge - opened up his King. I then got a slight lead after swapping off Queens - made a blunder in the run up to this - not paying attention and took his pawn instead of the Bishop - either move left me up - but instead of being 3pts up I was only one pt up - that's what made the rest of the match a real grind. The lesson - don't play while having a drink and trying to watch a film at the same time!! It was real cat and mouse - thought it might be heading towards a draw until I trapped him with a move that would have led to a revealed check with an attack on his rook - he had to move his King that was defending his bishop. That left me 4 pts up and just a matter of picking off his pawns and promoting mine as his rook was over-stretched - he resigned as soon as he saw that I was going to pick off his first pawn.Overall, a really good game and one that had me scratching my head throughout.
Gordon EF
League B round 12 GordonEF beats arabjoe by resignation I don't think I've ever had a tougher game while having a fairly significant piece advantage early on. A bit of a premature attack from arabjoe let me develop a bit quicker and by threatening to fork the bishop and Queen, the bishop got trapped and taken. Proving the old adage that sometimes it's tougher to play against 10 men it was a total slog from that point on. Was given the run around for a fair while and only managed to get out of danger once we had another flurry of piece exchanges. Even then I was really struggling to make the piece advantage count as he was using his rook well to prevent me being able to move on my passed pawn and keep his king in check. It was only when I realised I could get the pawn into the path of my bishop and he'd have to give up his rook or let my pawn promote that he threw in the towel.

I think anyone can make conditional moves, but members can set multiple lines. I've started using it recently, it saves time. https://support.chess.com/article/333-how-do-i-make-conditional-moves
