New clubs in the West of Scotland

Unfortunately the ferry between ardrossan and Campbeltown hasn’t started this season yet as the ferry has been used to cover another route because the main ferry is undergoing repairs. Don’t know when it’s due to start up again.
also @Tutankhamen there is no plane on Saturdays so you need to fly down Friday night and back up Sunday , perfect excuse for a weekend away 🍻

Would need a two night trip.

Ferry leaves Ardrossan at 1840 (arr 2120) on a Friday, and next ferry home after the game would leave Campbeltown 1655 (arr 1935) on Sunday. Fare is £17 return, add £89 for a car.

This is the summer timetable until end of September. Thereafter, I understand that the Campbeltown Ferry is seasonal and dropped from the winter timetable.

Another option is Citylink. Dep Buchanan St 0910 arr 1322; dep Campbeltown 1700 arr 2115. There's also an 0615 (arr 1022) from Glasgow for the early bird.

Waverley Paddle Steamer TBC.

Gourock-Dunoon ferry, Dunoon-Portavadie (bus/car) and Portavadie-Tarbert ferry is a much better option for anyone from the Central Belt than the God-forsaken A83 for four hours. Cuts it to two or less instead.

It isn't supposed to be too long in returning (just some extra repairs being done while they have the chance) but given the previous incompetence of Clyde shipbuilding on Cal Mac ferries who knows.

I can see one of these Top Gear style challenges where we all set off from George Square and take various methods to arrive in Campbeltown for kick off.

One of us drives, one goes by Citylink, one of us goes by ferry, one of us flies, one of us is dressed in bubble wrap and couriered by FedEx. And on that bombshell...

At this point it's just a total dilution of semi pro non league football in the west in turn messing about and diluting the amateur game in the west.

Chancers that should be nowhere near the same system as the likes of Pollok and Auchinleck,  imagine one of the top west clubs having to go to one of these clubs or places.

it's embarrassing only the small tiny non league geek community will find this anywhere near acceptable not to mention clubs coming and going every two seconds.  let's face it if one or two of these teams are still about in semi pro in three years I'd be gobsmacked.

Imagine sitting on your hands, like you, and letting your grade die.

What an embarrassment to the now dead grade you and your ilk are.

That's kind of why there are going to be 4 or 5 divisions down the road. If you don't belong in with Pollok and Auchinleck you find your natural level and wind up in with Muirkirk, Lugar and Royal Albert instead.

Good luck to all the new clubs, hopefully they can improve their grounds etc over the years ahead IF they're ready to move through the divisions. At least they seem ambitious enough to join the West in the first place. Interesting down south, the Combined Counties Div 1 has 14/20 clubs groundsharing, maybe the way forward ? All depends on what minimum criteria is required for entry.

So what will be the league set up next season?  Premier league obviously but did they get as far as setting up a League 1 and League 2 or is that all dependent on league positions this season?

Next season is premier with 20 clubs, three conferenes under that and a development division under that for the 9 to 11 new teams. Season after that premier is 16 (?)  and three divisions under that formed based on positions in the conferences. Third division might have to be split somehow if enough of the development teams gain full membership by then and move up into it. Development division may cease at that point depending on numbers.

Three leagues/conferences from last year to go again to determine which league they are in for the start of 22/23.

Looks complicated but will be clear all going well for 22/23

That leaves the newcomers in a league of there own whilst next seasons places get sorted out.

The newcomers will play for promotion in season 22/23.

Sadly lost a season obviously to Covid but hey let's go forward.
