WOS will be 31st March,

the EOS doesn’t have a deadline.

Thanks. EoS does have a dealine that's why I was curious if the WoS would prefer to align with it.

It's the South that's a bit different with April 30th

By the way on the WoSFL's entry criteria form it still references the East of Scotland league for the 12th Criteria.

We are advising clubs that have expressed an interest in the WOSFL what the potential path to joining could be:
After the SGM, their will most likely be a meeting with the members to put forward a plan for expansion of the WOS or not.
no meetings with any clubs has taken place. Clubs that express an interest get a call to say thanks and an explanation of the what’s happening in the league  ie nothing can be decided until after an SGM, some clubs have asked for guidance regarding the ground criteria which we’ve provided.
Why am I doing it?  it was a task given to me by the IMG to undertake.
Hope that clears up some points for you.
Thanks Colin

Thanks for clearing some of the points up. Still feel it was unnecessary to mention the East Junior clubs but it is what it is.

ER clubs have expressed an interested along with amateurs and youth outfits, these were all mentioned in the article that was then cut by the editor.

But surely you can see you shouldnt be entertaining west lothian. Harthill understandable the rest not

Remember how Orkney got namechecked last year in an EoS meeting around applicants? This is the same thing. There's nothing in the rules against it, that doesn't mean they are personally for it.

It's people on here that are in a tizzy when nothing is going to be known on the matter until after the WoS elects its first board in March at the earliest.

How far south is south, how far east is east?

stenhousemuir is closer to Glasgow than Edinburgh, but drives past Cameron.

clubs are free to apply to any league, it’s up to the members to decide.

The leagues will be having a meeting post SGM to discuss the way forward,

Sorry, you should not be entertaining applicants from areas that are clearly covered by the EoS. You know where east is from your Junior days.

Do you think it's acceptable and wise to turn West Lothian into a mix of EoS and WoS clubs, an area to be endlessly competed over, with clubs hopping back and forth?

Ideally, the EOS and WOS should agree on a boundary.

However, I can't see why "clubs hopping back and forth" would be a problem, since any hopping would have to be into the bottom tier of the new league.

This is the bit that's a tad hyperbolic.

Endlessly competed over? I don't see either the WoSFL or EoSFL competing right now. It's purely down to clubs applying.

Hopping back and forth? Don't see it happening as a regular occurence. Once in a league they'll end up wherever they do Tier wise and the WoSFL going from 6th-9th Tier and EoSFL quite possibly coming close to the same. At which point anyone moving will be starting over at the bottom. The bottom being the tier that will see transition most years with new applicants/ smaller clubs folding/in abeyance/balancing numbers. So its not something that will be felt as an issue.

Hardly.   Everyone knows the areas that the Lothians and Lanarkshire drop into, so stuff like "how far east is east" is just nonsense really.

Yes, clubs could hop back and forth, that is the situation that would be created.

You already have Harthill probably "hopping" into the WoS from an east league, no issue there due to their circumstances, but what happens is things dont work out, a few new committee and they might want to hop back east.  Same with say Stoneyburn if they apply, or West Calder.  All "bottom dwellers" so to speak so not a lot to lose.

Forth or Newmains might fancy a go at the EoS as they may consider it easier to progress.

It would be easier all round, along with simple common sense, to nip this scenario in the bud.

Leagues can’t force clubs to apply to their league.

Clubs can only apply to leagues.

Clubs can be advised that their application won't be progressed as there are other leagues that already cover their area, and clubs from that area are already members of it.

Hopefully the leagues formalise this shortly to remove any "doubt" although there really shouldn't be any.

And what harm has any of that done?

You're failing to realise something fundamental in all of these theortical scernarios you're concocting. The applicant club has to be accepted by the league they're "hopping" into.

So while you're annoyed at Forth & Newmains considering their options it turns out the majority of EoS members were fine with it.

This is also why a lot of leagues require a bond as a financial commitment to the league.

WOS and EOS probably wouldn’t accept applications from each others league

Think what you have to accept at this point is that if the EoS could be flexible on perceived boundaries where Tweedmouth and Luncarty were concerned in recent years then so can the WoS with applicants that are perceived by some to be east rather than west (local folk saying ken, radge, barry = east, but if they say know, mental, gallus = west might have been a useful rule of thumb). There are no fixed boundaries in place at tier 6 and below, so if the WoS clubs want to accept West Calder as things stand they can. If the EoS don't like this then maybe they should have ensured fixed boundaries and permissions from other leagues got written into constitutions before they signed off on the WoS getting in at tier 6?
