That’s a complete joke! Really think this could be played later

Not if the Ayr team are away it can't.

Current covid issues nothing even to do with this as quite simply the match should either have been called off this morning or not at all, unless there had been a huge deterioration in the pitch / weather, since the original inspection was carried out.

Hard to tell from a picture at distance.  You really have to standing in or walking through the affected area. Perhaps the kick-off could have been delayed, but there is no indication how long the delay would be.

Surely it’s not difficult to give the ground staff, say, an hour (so pushing KO to 4pm). If it’s still not playable, then so be it. But at least they would have tried, in an attempt to avoid Ayr having a wasted 240-mile round trip.

Why are you lads having a meltdown?  The game would have been absolutely shite.

Was looking forward to it tbf, is about the only thing to look forward to in a week just now is football on a Saturday, regardless of how shite we're playing, just good to see the team in the flesh.

There’s been no rain since the original inspection, and it’s been glorious sunshine for the last couple of hours.

Considering the ref David Munro looks like he's on his work experience i'm not surprised it's off, a more experienced ref would have probably got on with it

Just because he looks young ? Plenty of experienced

this season 7 Premiership Games

8 Championship games snd refereed 2 Europa League qualification  matches , not many inexperienced refs get those games

Possibly, but then an hour becomes 90 minutes which becomes two hours etc. I do agree that the pitch inspection system leaves a lot to be desired at times.

There was a pitch inspection done at 10:30 by a local referee and he said it was fine to go ahead.

At 1330, the ref for today’s game, David Munro, said there was a wet patch on the pitch and they kicked a ball around and deemed it to be dangerous - so he has called it off.

Dundee are now speaking to the league to see what can be done - asking if they can they delay kick off.

They can’t delay kick off as Ayr players have left

Sounds like a ridiculous decision then, unless there's some storms and torrential rain forecast for later ??

Surely the park would have drained even further in an hours time and work with forks etc would have made a difference ?

Who knows, maybe he's never seen a "real" football pitch in scotland in the middle of winter before ??
