Got to feel for Obika who has played up on his own for so long but Erwin looked much better when Brophy came on last week.

I am always wary of the 4-4-2. Just because we have 2 strikers it doesn't automatically mean we will be more attacking. Republic Of Ireland always played 2 strikers yet they were one of the most terrible sides to watch. Remember we have to fit McGrath into the team somewhere.

All that matters is the 3 points though.

Obika will get his shout. Not sure how fit he is, remember this time last week our twitter went into meltdown with everyone guaranteeing his absence meant he was gone.

Big afternoon for Bryson. Other than a sound debut against United, he hasn't shown much in a Saints shirt. To be picked ahead of two guys with over 300 games for the club - who as a result you know what you'll get from them - is a notable call.

Also a big opportunity for Shaun Rooney in his natural role for the first time in the Premiership. Needs to show both sides to his game today, good deliveries when he gets forward but make it hard for his opposite number defensively.

You can be confident enough that we'll maybe play well in games but that is absolutely no guarantee of a result, as the season has shown. The goalkeeper not chucking one in would be a help too.

Maybe Davidson and Craig haven't recovered enough from Tuesday night.  To be fair, with Bryson, McCann and Spoony in centre mid, it's as good a ball playing centre midfield as Saints can field.

The big concern is that no one in there is as disciplined at sitting in and protecting the defence as Liam Craig tends to be.  We should have a man advantage in the centre of the park if they've gone 4-4-2, so lets dominate in there from the start.

Just as long as we're not about to do something stupid like push Wotherspoon forward and wide and revert back to the 5-2-3.

If it's right enough that the mirrens have gone for an attacking set up as well then it might be a far more open game than we usually get between the two.

This is key.

All season we've struggled at home against teams who've sat deep against us, while away we've caused bother to every single club when they've opened up.

If St Mirren have gone for the second option it might just work out better for us than it has been so far. We'll still need strikers to score/keepers to save, which is where we'll probably fall down.

I think ours might be more of a 4-3-3 to be honest, with Connolly and Brophy off Erwin. Not sure about it to be honest, we've not been that solid recently, especially from crosses.

That was what I first thought, tbh. JDH as anchor with the other two playing off him.

Cammy clearly in to get sharpness with next week in mind.

Yeah, I actually think Cammy deserves a shot as well to be honest. There isn't much between him and Erhahon, and Ethan has been a wee bit off the boil last couple of weeks.

Anyway, last time we went to Perth with what looked like a very attacking team and we barely got out of our own half, so hoping this is a bit better thought out than that was.
