Just shows there’s not much difference between the top 4 of the championship and a middling premiership team.

Just 9 places and a trophy mate.

Dodged a bullet there.
Long time since I've seen us so poor all over the park.
Credit to Dundee for putting our players under pressure and forcing all the errors.
You could definitely see it was only our second game in nearly a month. Very rusty.
Credit to the defence for the clean sheet.
Big improvement needed for next weekend

Think Anderson sitting on Craig affected us at points, but think a lot was maybe the game plan?

May and Melamed both sat pretty high and wide at times, waiting to exploit the areas behind full backs, while we seemed pretty quick to try and hit those areas. Led to a lot of overhit passes IMO, and a bit of a disjointed look, passing was definitely off at all levels though. Second half was just really poor from pretty much everyone apart from the 3 CBs.

Shades of the Dunfermline game earlier this season, but a combination of the manager learning (not playing McCann as a right winger/playing two up front), and a new strength added to this team, and we come through in 90 minutes instead of penalties. Can't complain too much, we were crying out for results like this earlier this season.

James McPake saying he spoke to the ref afterwards. The ref admitted he thought it was a goal and said to McPake that the assistant flagged for a foul but when he went over to speak to him, he said it was offside.

Bizarre for the ref to hang the linesman out to dry like that even in private and even if the decision was ultimately correct or not.

There was confusion on the refs part, the linesman was correct all along. It's really not hard but McPake seems to struggle with this football malarkey.

Well, if you read my post properly, you'd understand that's not the case. McPake says that the ref said the linesman initially raised his flag to indicate a foul rather than offside.

Not sure if that's the case but that's what McPake alleges the ref said.

Not that it matters much.

McPakes probably seen its clearly offside, is desperate for a hard luck story, and knows the referee will never be able to tell his side of the story regardless, so has simply twisted what happened.

The linesman clearly flagged for offside, you can see it when Mullen charges over to him. The work experience ref probably had no idea what the flag meant until he went over to ask.

Just out of curiosity...how would he know what the linesman had flagged for before he spoke to him? Are they wired up?

They have different signals for different rulings. Unsure if they were wired up.

Don't think they are wired other than a buzzer for ball crossing the line? Watching the DeeTV coverage yesterday I'm pretty sure that the commentator said as soon as it was disallowed that it was flagged for offside. In any case McPake letting himself down there, pretty undignified behaviour and excuses the team. Is he scared of the dressing room?

We were absolutely rank, looked knackered and no more needs to be said about Zander. He either needs emptied asap or at the very least some serious competition.  First time of watching much Dundee this year. Not sure how that stacks up with other performances but seemed like a they have a lot of fight and heart but not really firing as a team. Not sure if McPake's a manager that's good at motivation but not the technical side. A real strength of St Johnstone is that we don't have primadonnas (Adams, Cummings). The lack of egos in the team is one of the reasons we've been successful. Coming out in the press pre-game and running your jaw spouting garbage about how big a team you are can only backfire, IMHO, and the club should really be stopping him doing it.

FWIW this Dundee team looks a slightly better proposition than the team that was relegated, but is McPake premiership manager material? Debatable.

ETA hope your your sake you've not contracted Fontaine for another season.

Yes, but not so much on the pitch?

As for the disallowed goal, the linesman saw the keeper in a collision and drop the ball so flagged. As they always do. No matter coco the clown clattered his own player and then spilled the ball out of his clown gloves. Definitely no offside either.

Suspect the referee team are all Mormons, Geoff loves the Mormons.

We're battling for 5th in the top flight while Dundee are scrambling to make the play offs in the second tier. It's quite clear there's a gulf in quality "on the pitch" and only an absolute moron wou....
