Dundee vs St Johnstone - 3rd Round

What's frustrating about that game is that St Johnstone were there for the taking but we, not for the first time this season, shot ourselves in  the foot, not once but twice.

Poor defending by Fontaine for the goal.

Shit awful penalty by Adam.

We were toothless with that formation as well.

Our worst performance of the season - maybe second worst after our first game away at Livi - and we win 1-0. We can’t play well every week so encouraging we can eke out a result but we‘ok not win another game this season playing like that.

Dundee should be in the hat for the next round.

Poor performance with Clark particularly bad, a clean sheet and into the next round.  If you heard the second part of that first you would probably have thought we had been at least adequate

Notable how far Wotherspoon was off the game and how much that impacted us as an attacking force. That said, for all Dundee’s effort and possession and territory in the second half they created little in the way of real chances and, if anything, we should have got a second through Booth right before the penalty.

In the next round which is the main thing, but that was a shite second half. Waste of an afternoon.

Probably as well we weren't playing a top six fixture today after the international break as we would have been pumped playing like that.

Thought the Dundee tv presentation was good, plenty of replays of the main incidents and the commentator was excellent. It sounded like the co-commentator was his mate who fancied giving it a go for a laugh.

No matter how bad Saints play this season there are 2 reasons we can win any game.

1. Our 3 central defenders are outstanding every single week.

2. Guy Melamed needs only 1 chance To score. Clinical.

Get right in the hat.

Callum Davidson talking the press just now , happy to be through but not happy with some elements of todays performance.

Not helped by the pitch but all grass pitches would be hard today.

Thats Saints first ever Scottish Cup win at Dens so another monkey of the clubs back.

Absolutely this. Everyone in midfield and up front were well off it - second half in particular - but the back three were excellent.

Wasn't expecting much from this but Saints looked unconvincing. Surprisingly unconfident from a team in great form but Dundee couldn't make it count.

Hard to understand considering we've not played in 2 weeks and 2 of our 3 CMs only arrived back in the country a day or two ago.

St Johnstone's CH's were rock solid today and whilst I don't watch much of St Johnstone, they must be doing a power of work to keep Zander Clark in a job at that level! Especially considering that's 5 clean sheets in 6!

He owes them big time. He's been shaky for a few years now.
