Moses Sumney, Sharon van Etten, and Perfume Genius team up with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble for full album covering Richard Youngs' LP Sapphie, doesn't mention Youngs much in the press material but hey it's a few quid for a legend still working a full time job in a library

Some highlights of the year so far

Alfa Mist - Bring Backs

Myles Kennedy - The Ides of March

King Gizzard the Wizard Lizard - Butterfly 3000

Pearl Charles - Magic Mirror

Lana Del Rey - Chemtrails over the country club

Sault - NINE

As per last year the worst album i think so far goes for my teenage 90s punk rock bands latest entry. Green Day were the let down last year, But The Offspring did even worst this year.

New Chad VanGaelen is going straight into top 5 territory for me. His last two records have been absolutely outstanding, not someone I was overly enamoured with before last year but what a brilliant couple of releases he's had since then.

Infinite Granite by Deafheaven.

Pretty different from their previous records. Really reminds me of the debut Cheatahs album from several years back. Will it gain them new fans or just lose their existing fans? Who knows but fair fucks to them for trying something different.

On my 4th or 5th listen to the new Deafheaven desperately trying to connect with it but i'm verging on falling on the side of "it's an absolute stinker" tbh

Maybe another 5 or 6 attempts will work.

It's all a bit 'There's always been a shoegaze element to our music'

Stuck it on the background whilst working and it just sort of passed me by. Seems fairly inoffensive and average - neither being things you want from a Deafheaven record tbh.

Elsewhere the new Wolves in the Throne Room record is fantastic.

Most exciting thing about the album from what I’ve read. Shame as well, she’s one of the best people I’ve seen live.

I listened to it yesterday. It's a bit one-paced and samey. Which is a let-down because Melodrama was really good.
